    As summer approached, one of the biggest questions flitting around the juniors at my high school was, "Are you doing a summer college program?". Some kids did them, and some kids didn’t. In the end, it’s not going to make or break your college application. However, having just returned from a week-long summer program for International Relations at Georgetown University, I now know a lot about summer college programs and fully advocate participating in one before you graduate high school.

    · There’s something for everyone. I picked the International Relations program at Georgetown because I’d like to go to Georgetown and I’m interested in studying International Relations. Simple.     Most high school students feel baffled and overwhelmed by the intensity of the college search process and prefer to put it off for as long as possible. I started the summer before my junior year, but only at the urging of my parents. They asked for a potential list of colleges around mid-July, and I went on my first college tour in the last week of August. Since then, I’ve visited thirteen schools, with about three more visits to make this summer.
