  • A bit closer to the super sound...

By Ulf, on Tue Nov 24, 2009 2:33pm PST

So, been working hard to reach the final goal; the perfect jazz guitar sound. If you've read anything I've written in the past, you know it's Ulf Wakenius' sound I'm aiming for. I'm almost there, which feels like a feat, considering I play a Boss Microcube, tiny but well… Read More »

  • Meeting a few dogs...

By Ulf, on Thu Oct 8, 2009 6:24am PDT

Walking down the road, nothing in particular   planned for the immediate future. Peaceful, almost serene. A lofty sensation of autumn clear skies. Chilly breeze biting a bit.  That was when I met with the first of these dogs. A little one, very sweet and trusty, took a look at me, said to… Read More »

  • Practice, as usual...

By Ulf, on Sun Oct 4, 2009 3:50am PDT

Practice makes perfect. So they say. They are right. So I keep on practicing with the new les paul. What a wonderful guitar. Actually, I didn't know I was this good. Really. Practicing, and drinking coffee. Main DO things in my life. Coffee & jazz. Right now training fingerstyle jazz blues. Nice. Will do some recording soon, to see what it sounds like. Best way to learn what needs improving the most. 'Blues in the closet' is one favorite. The Guitars… Read More »

  • Bebop heads

By Ulf, on Mon Jul 13, 2009 3:05pm PDT

Practicing, bebop heads. Parker, to be precise. Anthropology, Dexterity, Moose the Mooch and others. All day and mostly into the night.  Nothing much happening other than that. As usual. Since I have no other interests or priorities that's not strange at all. I do it to get bebop really… Read More »

About This Author

The poet, jazz guitar learner, painter, well, the classical 'be ware' type of guy. A long time ago they called us 'renaissance men', nowadays they call us 'unemployed. I prefer the former. Digesting Sartre's thesis, learning Parker's style (bebop), eating quickly and not too filled with nutrition, enjoying Douglas Adams' works, not liking too hot a day. That really sums up my being. If there can be said to be something at all. Which I seriously doubt...
