  • Stacey-from-Philly's Tomato Bread

By JennyB, on Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:49am PDT

About ten years ago, my friend, Stacey-from-Philly gave me a piece of Tomato Bread. Her mom had carried it in the car for the seven hour trip it takes to get from Philly to our suburb in Ohio. The bread didn't look like much; sort of like tomato sauce smeared on focaccia. As honored as I was... Read More »

  • The Greatest Gift

By JennyB, on Sun Jun 1, 2008 1:40am PDT

My husband of almost fourteen years is the love of my life. He is kind to me. He is good for me. He adores our four daughters. I’ve got nothing to complain about…except that he is an awful gift-giver. I should have seen it coming, this inadequate gift-giving gene he carries, on the first... Read More »

  • Ein Mal!

By JennyB, on Sat May 31, 2008 12:58am PDT

“Ein mal!”, he screamed at the group of us. “Ein mal!” It’s taken five years of living here in Switzerland, listening and studying (sort of) German, for me to figure out what ‘ein mal’ means. The butcher has posed the term in question form, ‘ein mal?’ as he plunked pork chop after... Read More »

  • Thong Gone Wrong

By JennyB, on Thu May 29, 2008 5:38am PDT

Not all women should wear a thong. Not a lightning bolt of a statement, I realize. But if this is common knowledge then why do so many women insist on doing so? I am one of the women who falls into the category of ‘body type not thong-wearable’. I guess I used to have a bum fit enough to justify... Read More »

  • The Comfort of Strangers

By JennyB, on Fri May 23, 2008 4:52am PDT

Our twins daughters were born 10 weeks premature and in bad shape. They spent the first 9 weeks of their lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At first they were in the University hospital’s NICU where they were born, but after three weeks, they were moved to a hospital closer to our home.... Read More »

About This Author

I am all about cooking, eating, traveling and living life with my husband and four little foodie girls. We are an American expat family living for the past 5 years in Switzerland, but about to move on to England-- no, not London, silly...why does everyone assume that? I am a classically trained chef and, when we lived in the States, was a weekly food columnist for a couple of newspapers, as well as freelancing for several magazines. I used to have a sense of humor, occasionally even coming up with witty party banter, but after 4 kids that's all gone, baby, gone and I am now a simple-minded curmudgeon.
