About This Author

Kim has been an entrepreneur for many years, including a former licensed Real Estate Agent and CFO/Co-Owner of an Advertising Company. Currently, she is a licensed Interior Decorator, Muralist/Artist, and one of the few original iLearningGlobal.TV Founding Members. Company History Custom Murals & Designs (formerly Kim Hansen Interiors) Kim is a self-taught artist with 20 years experience. Her work has been showcased throughout Colorado, Florida and Arizona. Kim has a way of bringing her client's ideas to life by "getting into" their head. Her slogan is "if you can dream it, I can make it happen". Kim grew up in a small town in northwest Iowa. After graduating from college she moved to Colorado where she met John, a native of Colorado. They were married and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2008. They have two beautiful children. Murals and Interior Decorating started off as a passionate hobby during Kim's free time, but as demand grew through word-of-mouth, she decided to make herself more available. While living in Colorado, Kim studied Interior Decorating, obtained her Interior Decorator's License in 2001 and launched Kim Hansen Interiors, now known as Custom Murals & Designs. Kim's husband, John, has a background in architectural drafting. During Kim's busiest times, you just might find John helping Kim out with sketching and painting. In 2004, the Hansens moved to Florida where Kim continued her custom mural and interior decorating business. That fall, the Hansens experienced an unforgettable ordeal, as did many other people living in Florida. Within a 6 week period of time, their house and community were battered by four (4) hurricanes, beginning with Hurricane Charley on August 13, 2004! Business slowed down for a few months, but after the communities began to recover, Kim was right back at it and her business recovered in no time, stronger than ever! Despite having a thriving business, the Hansens missed being around their extended family. In 2006, an opportunity presented itself. They sold their house and moved to Arizona, where several other family members reside, including John's 100+ year old grandmother! The Hansens currently live in Gilbert where Kim continues living out her passion and career as a custom muralist and artist. BEHIND THE SCENES: Research is a big part of Kim's work. She uses the internet, books and magazines to find pictures of characters and landscapes, and searches archives to study how places looked years ago, then draws on her imagination to bring the projects to life. CHARITY PROJECT: In December 2004, Kim was featured in Hewlett Packard's Corporate Magazine. Kim donated her time and talent, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard (HP), to paint a rainforest mural for the boys' recreation center at Lakeside Alternative, a facility for troubled teens, in Orlando, Florida.
