Okay, so let me preface this post by saying quite plainly ... I love Jonathan Adler. I love the attitude, color palette, and sophistication of just about everything I've seen him do. Last summer I had the pleasure of staying at The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, and was again incredibly impressed by his work. I'm in the market for a new coffee table and area rug, and I'm looking for something "different", so recently I decided to brave the Los Angeles traffic and make the trek across town to his shop on Melrose to check out my options.
However, as soon as I stepped foot in the shop I felt let down. I was having flashbacks of that "Friends" episode when both Rachel and Ross buy the same Pottery Barn coffee table. (You remember the one.... Phoebe delivers a tirade about how Pottery Barn is "everything that's wrong with the country.") Adler's store wasn't this trove of unique items that I'd imagined would add some quirky fun to my home.
