I snapped this photo of my friend's toes at the gym the other morning, not because she had the most flawless pedi I've ever seen, but because she'd done a completely rushed, bootleg pedi using Incoco dry nail-polish appliques (Avon makes these, too). The glossy red looks just like normal liquid polish, no? And had she taken more time to properly prep her nails and follow instructions, this faux pedi might even be on par with the salon kind. Just wondering because I got a press release from GoSMILE that says "90% of people between 16 and 40 believe having bad breath is 'the worst social mistake one can make.'" I can think of more offensive things than that but I'll admit that realizing you've been schmoozing with stinky breath is pretty embarrassing. The thing is, I'm not a big fan of mint-flavored stuff. I know many experts claim you can't do much about cellulite--that it's just a sad genetic side effect. I beg to differ. My thighs are dimple-prone, but when I exercise at least 4 times/week, they get much smoother. Plus, I've tried cellulite creams that, when applied twice daily on a regular basis, do make a noticeable (though temporary) difference. Read More »

As Baze mentioned, it is H-O-T. And when the Big Apple heats up, the only place I want to be is on the beach, which is where I spent most of my weekend. Sunday also happened to be World Ocean Day, which celebrates the sea's vital role in our ecosystem. The only reason I know that is because I went to a stylish pre-Ocean Day party last week hosted by super-luxe skincare company, La Mer, and, Oceana, an organization that works to increase awareness about the need to protect the world's oceans and the creatures that call it home. It's been crazy-busy around the Glamour offices lately, but I managed to pry myself away from my desk last Wednesday to go to a fancy dinner with a bunch of other beauty editors......and oh yeah, USHER!!! It was to celebrate the launch of his new fragrance, which comes out this fall. It smells great but more on that later. The most strenuous thing I did over the long weekend--other than haul an impressive quantity of cheese, crackers and wine to Central Park--was venture beyond the safety of gradual self-tanners and pick up a can of the darker, one-hour kind (knowing I had a few days to recover from mess-ups before heading to work): Lancome's Flash Bronzer Airbrush. It went so-so. It was easy to mist on, and the color is totally streakless/natural and helped ease my transition into skimpy summer-weekend attire. BUT I messed up my hands big time, leaving weird lines and white "webbing" between my fingers. Read More »
