    Roasted Broccoli

    Roasted Broccoli

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I am not a vegetable fan. I was the girl who would never eat her vegetables, and everyone knew it.

Now that I'm older, things are changing. Lucky for me (well, for my health) my boyfriend won't take any nonsense when it comes to me eating healthy, so I don't have much of a choice. To make life a little more enjoyable for myself, I've tried to find vegetable recipes that I actually enjoy, rather than having to force them down.

The credit for finding this recipe goes to my sister. She'll randomly send me links to recipes that she wants me to make for her, and this was one of the better ones... in fact, just plain amazing! Sure, broccoli used to be one of the only vegetables I'd eat, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat some when I was younger. Who would've ever known I'd crave broccoli? Recipe adapted from Amateur Gourmet. The recipe for the tuna cake sandwich seen in the background can be found on my food blog, Fridgg.com.

  • Garlicky Breadsticks

By Allison, SushiDay, on Thu Jul 31, 2008 2:55pm PDT

I love breadsticks. If I could, I'd make a meal out of them. Garlicky, cheesey, crisp on the outside but soft on the inside breadsticks are, for me, a perfect food. And what better to pair with some delicious spaghetti than some equally delicious breadsticks?

I was amazed at how easy these breadsticks were to make. Yeast bread has always seemed intimidating to me, so I expected these to be difficult to mix, take forever to rise... boy, was I wrong. These were so incredibly easy, I had dinner on the table in no time!

I found this recipe over on Angies Pangies. Go check out her post... the story about her husband making the breadsticks is hilarious!

  • Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

By Allison, SushiDay, on Wed Jul 30, 2008 11:19am PDT

Spaghetti has always been one of my favorite dishes. It's easy to make, and provides a delicious, filling meal. Everyone prefers their spaghetti sauce differently. Some like it to be just a tomato sauce, while others prefer large meatballs scattered throughout. Personally, I like my meat sauce somewhere in the middle. I love having lots of cooked ground beef mixed into the sauce, so you get chunks of meat in every bite.

This recipe is my grandmother's recipe, and is the recipe I have grown up with. With six kids, my grandmother sure knew how to cook a great meal... I wouldn't change a thing.

About This Author

I have been writing a blog called Sushi Day (at sushiday.com ) since November of 2006. I love food of all sorts (not just sushi!) and have so much fun cooking, buying, and eating food, and then writing about it! I'm half Japanese and part Irish, so I love my sushi just as much as anything with potatoes!
