6 perfect side tables
You don't know how handy a good side table is until you're living without one. As a new-apartment dweller, I have reached dire straights when it comes to the stuff I have knocked over and spilled because I don't have a great little table to place my cold drink or my stack of magazines. If you need to get stuff off the floor (like me), these little guys are braced and ready to hold even the heaviest of summer reads.
The fluted sides of VivaTerra's glazed ceramic stool are inspired by a lotus blossom. $269, 13"D x 17.5"H

What's Selling at Rose and Radish: woolly egg warmers
San Francisco's Rose and Radish is one of the most unique stores on the west coast. Every three months, the gallery-esque shop showcases select pieces from an assortment of designers, all unified by a theme. One of their recent shows featured the adorable hand crafted egg cups of Berlin's Hut Up, designed to keep freshly cooked eggs nice and hot while your brunch guests ooh and aah over your charming centerpieces and artfully mismatched dinnerware. (You certainly wouldn't go to the trouble of buying designer egg cozies and not gussying up the rest of your table, would you?)

From The Vault: Geometry class
Desire to Inspire's Jo and Kim are dedicated to showcasing the best of interiors and styling through the portfolios of interior designers, photographers and stylists. A recent post showcased retro interiors found in a secondhand book store. Even though this groovy but modern interior from Inside Today's Home by Ray & Sarah Faulkner (Holt, Rinehart and Winston, New York) is from 1975, the fuss-free, clean bed mixed with a shag rug is oh so au currant. Why not let history inspire your place? We found 5 key pieces to help you recreate this look:

Party Favorites: custom-printed wooden ice cream spoons
[Ed. note: Since these are a little splurge-y, I can almost see them more as something you'd get for a summer outdoor wedding, with the bride and groom's names stamped on them. What do you think? I wonder if you could also try buying blank wooden spoons and stamping messages on them yourself. I suppose the ink might come off on your fingers, but it could be cute while it lasts. Has anyone out there ever tried it?]
Paper+Cup's customizable Wooden Icescream Spoons are the perfect addition to your next pool party or birthday. Choose your own text or Paper+Cup's signature design (for an additional cost) that is hot-stamped into the wood. Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

High/Low Furniture Face-off: Sheepskin rugs
[Ed. note: I know it may seem kinda, well, hot to be talking about sheepskin rugs right now, but tossed over a not-that-cozy-on-its-own chair or positioned beside the bed right where your feet land every morning, a little bit of fuzziness can be nice year-round. Here, options for two different budgets:]
Ever wonder why Uggs were such a phenom even among people who usually had more distinctive taste? Step onto Room and Board's sheepskin, and you'll start to get an idea. (Bonus: you can enjoy this in the privacy of your own home.) $89, roomandboard.com

Party Favorites: the perfect white plates
When it comes to dinnerware, my school of thought centers around the idea that if it's all white, it all works–indoor, outdoor and for any occasion. Matte or shiny, organic or finished, the most interesting table settings are made up with pieces from different sources and styles—which really comes in handy for accommodating small groups or big ones at a moment's notice.
The 9x9 inch Plaza square dinner plate is a Heath Ceramics classic. $33 per plate.
