Watching the Olympics as a Parent
Like most people, I've been watching the Olympics this week. Not all of it, but bits and pieces. I've always loved watching the Olympics. There is something about it. The excitement, the sportsmen ship, I don't know. And just like every child growing up I had dreams of winning an Olympic medal in... Read More »

A 7 Year Old's Dilemma
One of the things that is very important to Rich and me is teaching our kids about proper nutrition and eating well. We want to teach our children how to make good, healthy choices in food. We do bring the kids to McD's or let them have special "treats" from time to time. But it's... Read More »

My (current) Approach to Summer Vacation
I have a theory I'm testing out for summer vacation... Try to keep the kids busy in the morning with fun (preferably cheap) activities, and then let them relax and do "kid stuff" in the afternoons. Possibly go to the pool then too depending on weather and how they feel. So far, things... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

How Mom Got Her Vacation
I have just returned from a week on Hilton Head Island with my family and my in-laws. I always tease my family that I don't really get a vacation. I'm a stay at home mom. When we go on vacation I still have to do the same "job" but in a different location with less... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (4) | Blog

Rain, Rain, Come and Play!
Today I proved my worth as a mother. I let fun come first. I let spontaneity rule. I let my kids go outside and play in the rain. Sometimes you just have to let them be kids. I remember going out and splashing in puddles and playing outside. It seems like kids these days, or my kids... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

Playdate Etiquette: Reciprocating
I have a dilemma. My oldest son has a friend in his first grade class that adores him. This boy, we'll call him "Charlie", loves Josh, and Josh likes him too. They get along really well and are both live and breathe Pokemon (argh!). This child, while a very nice child, is a... Read More »

Yes, it's that time of year again! The end of the school year is looming just around the corner. Sooner for some than others. It hit me yesterday. My youngest son's last day of school in on Monday. And not only did I not have any teacher gifts, I had no idea what to get! I'm going to... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (17) | Blog

The Magic Wardrobe
It's that time of year again. Time for me to clean out the boys closets.Thankfully, I don't have to do it as often as I used to... they are growing up! And wearing out clothes faster than they grow out of them. I don't know what they do to the knees in the jeans to wear them... Read More »
