The wait is over: The White Elephant Hotel Residences are open for the summer season! Located in Nantucket, the former whaling town attracts numerous visitors throughout the spring and summer with its hundreds of miles of sandy shores and top-notch dining - with fresh seafood being the specialty, of course. For families and groups visiting Nantucket, the big, luxurious one- to three-bedroom units at the White Elephant Residences are a great choice. Unlike vacation home rentals, these units - outfitted in attractive, nautical decor - come with the perks of a hotel stay, such as daily housekeeping, a seasonal outdoor pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. There's not much in terms of a communal feel, like you might find at an inn or smaller hotel, but that's part of the allure for some who seek a private, secluded vibe. As to be expected, however, privacy and luxury don't come cheap on this island. Check out more photos now!Master Bedroom in the Macy Two Bedroom at the White Elephant

When your trusted friends are trying to give you some gentleI love a good manifesto. I love Bob Sutton's manifesto about work, and Madame X's manifesto about money, and Frank Lloyd Wright's manifesto for his apprentices.
Somehow, I'd never come across Google's Ten things we know to be true manifesto, and I found it very interesting.
The Google site explains, "We first wrote these 10 things when Google was just a few years old. From time to time we revisit this list to see if it still holds true. We hope it does-and you can hold us to that."
Focus on the user and all else will follow.
It's best to do one thing really, really well.
Fast is better than slow.
Democracy on the web works.
You don't need to be at your desk to need an answer.
You can make money without doing evil.
There's always more information out there.
The need for information crosses all borders.
You can be serious without a suit.
Great just isn't good enough.
Very thought-provoking. Though people might disagree

Dick Clark and "American Bandstand" played a big role in my early years. After the Ricky Nelson crush, I lost my heart to another teen idol. Living in Philadelphia had the advantage that it was the home of "American Bandstand," the TV show on which adolescents who jitterbugged became as famous as movie stars.
My girlfriend Bev and I formed our own two-member fan club for James Vincent Peatross, a Bandstand regular and frequent dance contest winner. On the backs of two index cards, intended to spend eternity in hidden compartments of our wallets, I typed the club motto:
We love you Jimmers Vincers and always will until you hear otherwise from a reliable source.
Bev, whose code name was Vincers, was vice president and I, Jimmers, was president; the two of us were the world's only reliable sources.
Sometimes after school Bev and I took the elevated train to West Philly, where Bandstand was broadcast. On the way we played a game of fake coughing so the other riders

Don't Buy on the Wrong Day
Many retailers receive their flower shipments on Friday mornings (in preparation for the weekend rush) and Mondays (when they need to replenish stock), but you should get to know the clerk who stocks the flowers at your local supermarket or corner store, who can tell you the exact delivery days, says entertaining expert Matthew Mead.

Aside from wilted petals and dry leaves, an easy way to determine a bouquet's freshness is to look at the bottom of the stems. Just as with asparagus, you should see white and green fibers in the center. Any brown or mushiness means the flowers have been sitting in stale water for a few days, says Meredith Waga Perez, owner of Belle Fleur in New York City.

Opting for flowers that haven't bloomed means you'll be able to enjoy them for longer, but it can take some varieties (like the hybrid tea rose, the

By Mother Nature Network (mnn.com) | At Home – Wed, Apr 18, 2012 3:39 PM EDTBy Melissa Breyer, Mother Nature Network
Sugar can be used to soften the kisser and to keep lipstick fresh.
The history of sugar is not a simple one. From ancient China to the colonies to Candy Land, sugar has been making its mark throughout time in myriad ways. The "white gold," as British colonists called it, has now reached mundane staple status for much of the western world, sitting in a five-pound bag in the pantry patiently waiting to be spooned into a cup of coffee or employed in a batch of cookie dough. But that doesn't mean the coruscating carbohydrate can't be put to other uses. In a bind, regular table sugar can pinch-hit for a number of other concoctions, often times taking the place of more costly or possibly toxic solutions. Whether for health or beauty, in the kitchen or in the garden, here are a number of ways you can put this versatile ingredient to work.
1. Soothe your babe
