I always like to buy a new batch of houseplants to freshen up my space. Sometimes growing plants indoors can be a little bit tricky. Here are a few tips I've learned over the years working as a gardener and florist as well as growing my own plants at home. This year I am trying to winter-over some geraniums and have taken several of these tips to heart and have found great success so far. Included are some of my favorite products to keep your plants looking green all winter.
Dead head your plants
1. Dead head your plants
Be sure and remove yellow or dead leaves and blossoms from stems and from around the base of the plant. For some soft-stemmed plants, like geraniums, it's better to simply break off the stem with your fingers. For regular hardy stems, use clippers like these.

"...too lazy to plow..."Read More »from Plow Through
"A farmer too lazy to plow his fields at the right time will have nothing to harvest." (Proverbs 20:4)
This New Year's Day was a tough time to be a tugboat captain on the river. As I took this photo I only could imagine the frustration of the captain and pilot. They were fighting to keep their coal-laden barges on course in the channel as they plowed through the fierce winds and waves. I guess they knew their coal had to get to market so they struggled on instead of waiting out the storm. New Year. New you. That means taking the time to make your place reflect your personality.
-PJ Gach, BettyConfidential.com
A new year brings change. We've kissed last year good-bye and are so bright-eyed and eager to kick off the New Year right. We're tossing shoes, accessories, clothes and sometimes even our boyfriends into the recycling bin. Since you're in the mood for change, why not change the interior-of your house or apartment? Winter brings you lots of indoor entertaining, right? And instead of going away this year, you're staying close to home, right? So why not take all that positive energy and make your nest the place you've always wanted it to be.
