Gardening tipsIt's finally spring, and time to get out in the yard and start planting. If you're a novice gardener, avoid making these three blunders and you'll be rewarded with a thriving garden and maybe even a lifelong hobby.
1. Starting too big It's easy to get enthusiastic when you read catalogs or visit the garden center. But if you plant a large garden the first time around, as the season progresses, you can easily become overwhelmed by how much care it takes to maintain. Better to start small so you don't become discouraged. Think about beginning with container gardening, either in baskets or a small raised bed. Check out Burpee for some of their great containers to get you started.

2. Over-or-under watering There's such a thing as too much water. If you give plants so much that they can't absorb it all, they'll be standing in water and can drown. On average, a garden needs about 1 inch of water a week. To test whether it's time to water, stick your finger into

Cleaning used to be a simple thing. You learned what to use from your parents and bought the same products when you moved into your own house. But new reports just emerging may make you rethink choosing some of those brands.
Earlier this month, a report conducted by the Silent Spring Institute in Newton, MA and published in the online Environmental Health Perspectives journal revealed chemicals linked to linked to asthma and hormone disruption in 200 common household products.
Personal care products such as soaps and lotions, household cleaners, sunscreens, air fresheners, vinyl shower curtains and pillow protectors-even kitty litter-were found to contain chemicals such as phthalates (linked to reproductive abnormalities and asthma) and parabens (linked to hormone disruption and associated with breast cancer), among others.
Many chemicals were not listed on labels of the products, which were manufactured by conventional and "alternative" brands. However,

Jennifer Lawrence looking fit as Katniss in The Hunger Games.Read More »from Hunger Games Star Jennifer Lawrence Should Be Praised for Health, Not Condemned
By Dana Shultz for DietsInReview.com
As a huge fan of the 'The Hunger Games' series, I feel a certain attachment not only to the characters in the book, but also the actors who played them on screen. So when criticism arose this week of Jennifer Lawrence being 'too big' to play Katniss in the movie, to say I was shocked is an understatement.
While I haven't seen the movie yet, I have closely followed the news surrounding the movie and watched Lawrence as she's graced countless premiere parties looking absolutely stunning. My assessment of her body is that she looks nothing short of perfect and healthy. In fact, I loved that she went on record saying that she didn't drop a ton of weight for the film, and instead focused on exercise to prepare herself for the role.
So comments suggesting that Lawrence has too much 'baby fat' or is too 'big-boned' to play Katniss are hard to swallow.
In a harsh review of the film, Jeffrey Wells of Hollywood Elsewhere writes "Lawrence seems too big

If you have been reading us for a while, it's pretty clear to you that we love products and businesses with a good story. This is one such GREAT story AND cause. It's about Arzu Studio Hope.
Arzu (which means hope in Dari, a variety of the Persian language spoken in Afghanistan) Afghani Children Arzuwas founded in 2004 by social entrepreneur Connie K. Duckworth. Connie left the world of finance to start this enterprise with the mission to promote women's rights and economic empowerment in Afghanistan. She knew nothing about that country or about international development and nothing about rugs but she knew that she wanted to help women in Afghanistan break out of centuries of cycle of poverty. By helping them, she knew she would create the ripple effect of helping their children and their communities.
There is very little choice of jobs in Afghanistan for a woman to work outside the house, especially in the rural areas where there is little economic opportunity. The rug industry is one of the few culturally acceptable options in which women can work and thus, this is where Connie decided to implement her program to help them. Arzu Studio Hope is a rug weaving cooperative which pays women the market rate for their weaving labor plus incentive bonuses. In exchange, families must agree to send all children under the age of 15 to school full-time and must allow women in the household to attend Arzu literacy classes and to allow Arzu to assist pregnant women and newborns in obtaining pre-and post-natal care.
Buying an Arzu rug means that you are helping women in Afghanistan by giving them job opportunities,Read More »from Rug with a Cause - Arzu Studio Hope
