It's a dream, is it not? Well… most of the time it is. But what about those times when you find yourself alone, eating a cold grilled cheese sandwich in the school theater? Or what about the time you realize that in the class portrait, which is the FIRST page of the yearbook, you are seated in such a way that everyone can see directly up your skirt?* Those times can be devastating. I hope these tips can help you, dear reader, as you embark upon this school year.
7. Be kinder than you think you actually are.
If your normal self would make fun of Alastair for saying that his favorite music is Mozart (what a loser - ZING), your first day of school self should keep this type of criticism to herself. You never know when someone is going to make fun of your love of dinosaurs or ancient Egypt. We're all little weirdos. Plus, Mozart is

Bring home those small shampoo, conditioner, body cream amenities from one of your recent hotel stays. Add some cotton balls and swabs, a shower cap, perhaps, a new toothbrush still in its wrapper. Just place the items in a basket or on a plate beside fresh towels on the bathroom counter for guests who may have forgotten their own. Leave a hair dryer out as well. How practical (and at no cost to you)!
Prior to your guests' arrival, prepare a hand written welcome note to insert in an envelope left on a tray. Add a bottle of both sparkling

DIY lip scrubI'm not sure what it is, but every time I travel I get some sort of cold. I left on a red eye flight to NYC on Wednesday for the Latinos in Social Media conference and spent my short time there with the feeling that something was coming on. I was perfectly fine, felt healthy and energetic enough to venture into my old stomping grounds of the Big Apple. The first night there, I started to feel a sore throat. The following morning, my nose was stuffed, my lips were chapped (not a good look when all you packed was red lipstick) and I had a horrible headache. Yep, I was sick! I felt very self-conscious meeting so many people for the first time, especially with chapped lips that I tried to remedy with chap stick to no avail. As soon as I got home I went the honey route. It's such a great way to get rid of dryness and redness. It always works.Read More »from Kiss Dry Lips Goodbye with This DIY Honey, Olive Oil, and Sugar Lip Scrub

Inspiring Military Family Get a Life-Changing Surprise
Being married to a soldier sent overseas can be a struggle, but this couple and their family have learned to make the best of it.
Michelle and Rod Cherland were overjoyed to combine their big families (she had two boys, he had five girls) into an even bigger one when they got married. But just 22 days after their wedding, Michelle, a kindergarten teacher and an army captain in the United States Reserve, was deployed.
Rod was faced with the challenge with taking on both parenting roles for all seven children. But he did so without any complaint, and the couple appeared on "Ellen" to share their story. Little did they know they would be going home not only with a $15,000 check for Michelle's school, but with an all-expenses paid cruise to the Mexican Riviera for the whole family!Read More »from Inspiring Military Family Get a Life-Changing Surprise

When you actually think about it, it is almost unbelievable that this wives' tale is still doing the rounds. For once and for all, it is just not true. As celebrity and royal (Kate Middleton is a client) hairdresser Richard Ward explains: "This isn't true - only one hair can grow out of each hair bulb, but once you start graying it may just seem that way." Philip Kingsley, the U.K's leading trichologist, also agrees. "When your hair begins to go gray and you pull one out, the chances are that the hair next to it is

Easy Lentil Soup with Roasted Tomatoes Recipe
I stayed home sick from work the other day, and, because it was freezing cold out, I decided to make myself a soup with whatever I had on hand. It turned out to be a bag of lentils, a can of beans, some cherry tomatoes and a block of Parmigiano-Reggiano. The soup was easy, filling and delicious -- plus I didn't have to leave my house to make it.
Try making this at home, then storing the lentil soup (pre-tomato addition) in the refrigerator or freezer for a quick, re-heated weeknight meal. You can also use this as a base for adding onions or other vegetables or fresh herbs.
