  • Do you ever notice how negative some people are? Lately I've heard professionals make snide remarks about another or the industry they're in and I feel as if I'm on a mission to get rid of negative thoughts. They don't serve or help us in anyway and they interfere with achieving success and seeing and appreciating all the positive things in our lives.

It's not so easy being positive, especially when times are difficult, but a few simple strategies can help you be shamelessly positive. Start to create a positive attitude by creating an environment that reflects that. Put a pretty plant on your desk and maybe a new photo of your loved one, clean up the clutter, add something colorful, change your screen image on your desktop and put something in front of you that reminds you continuously that life is in essence good and you are happy to be here.

    Watch Your Time
Next you may want to examine what you allow to occupy your time. If it doesn't uplift you or make you feel good, stop doing

  • Well, after a busy morning, I now find myself with a little free time and so I decided to browse the net. I'm not sure why I'm amazed at what I find there. A woman in trouble with the law for tattooing her daughter, the Taliban shooting a child my daughter's age for speaking against them, and Amber Tamblyn's outside of the box wedding dress are just a few of the stories that were "trending". All of these topics are of interest to one person or another and for everyone who takes one stance on the topics, there is a person who takes the opposite stance.

The world is full of people who all think, act, and believe differently and I don't understand why society as a whole cannot accept that that is okay. Of course I'm not saying that murdering a child is right, but what I am saying is that it is okay and expected for people to have diverse ideas of right and wrong. The important thing to remember is that while you have the right to your opinions, others do as well. You won't always agree

I wish i could say that my reason for studying law was to fight injustice, or to educate people about their rights, or that it had been mylife-long dream. Unfortunately, my decision was made after a whole weekend of Legally Blonde, reruns of Boston Legal and 2 'Fs' in chemistry and physics. Ater i mistakenly sipped on hydrochloric acid, mistaking it for a base and then set my lab partner's coat on fire, everybody thought it best that i find a different calling. 'Learned' became my favorite word in a matter of days and i couldn't wait to be the Elle Woods of my class.....that is, until i actually got to class.
Why don't they tell you at orientation what to expect as a law student? They leave you to your own clueless awe, which is further fueled by the jargon they speak. it took me a week to realise that my failure to understand legal maxims was because they were in another language, not due to some conspiracy theorists hijacking the English dictionary.
Don't even get me started on

  • Why do you exist?

    What's the point of you?

Are you so self absorbed you don't even see how much you are hurting those who love you the most?

Is your existence solely based on what you want?

What is your life worth, everyone else's happiness?

How do you sleep at night knowing that those who love you most, could be gone forever any minute. And you were too busy to even show your love for her/him. What would that do to you? How does this make you feel?

When you see the person you fell in love with, ask yourself, am I still in love with her/him? If not or if yes, why?

Do you want to spend the rest of your life living in a life where those around you disappear simply because they feel like they aren't loved by you. And slowly but surely all you have worked for all you have based all, and I mean all, your time on is nothing in comparison to the pain you will feel when you lose the one you hold most dear.
What does this mean to you?
    Nothing?
Who are you? What are you? Better yet,

Take a trip to the Lower East Side to celebrate and learn about healthy habits by dancing, playing games, and cooking and sampling healthy food at Fun and Fit in the City. • Before we get to this week's post, I want to remind everyone that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Towards my mission as a health and wellness advocate, may I make a simple request? If you are over the age of 40 and you haven't had a mammogram in the past year, will you schedule an appointment to get one before the end of this month? Early detection is so important. Unfortunately, many women over the age of 40 don't have annual mammograms. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has an online tool and smartphone app that you can use to create an early detection plan complete with reminders when it's time for self and clinical exams. How easy is that? Let's do this for ourselves, ok? And spread the word to the other women in your life.
