Daudi Gilwoni was borne in Gisambai Village of Western Kenya in the year 1884. His parents were called Mutunde and Magova , and lived at Gimamoi village. His parents had 3 children. Daudi was the first borne, Magova the second while Reuben was the last borne.
Gilwoni was the first Tiriki person to receive education. He schooled at Kaimosi under the tutorage of the first white missionaries.
After school he was employed in the construction of the roads in western Kenya including the Kisumu - Kakamega road.
Gilwoni found the Tiriki deeplly entrenched in some cultural practices that were negative and needed to be changed. The Tirki also resisted change and modernization. Gilwoni set about to change this.
Gilwoni is the founder of most of the schools found in and near Gisambai. He founded Gisambai Primary School, Munzatsi Primary School, Gidagadi Primary School and Gidimu Primary School.For many years he was the only African teacher at these schools.

The PCEA Church of Kayole held the first Adulthood Initiation Ceremony between 6 December 2009 and 18 December 2009.
The overall aim of the ceremony was to usher into adulthood young boys and girls of ages 13 to 15 years.
Altogether the ceremony initiated into adulthood 170 boys and 40 girls.
During the initiation period the boys were accommodated at The New Light Academy of Kayole. The girls were accommodated at St. Mary's High School of Donholm.
This programme was an adulthood training that covered the following aspects:
- Youth Sexuality Awareness and Responsibility
- Counselling Against Substance and Drug Abuse
- Family Responsibility

PART 1: PURPOSE
The Gisambai Location Welfare Education Fund (GLWEF) is a registered society number 15927 of Kenya. GLWEF was founded in 1993 by area residents led by Mr. Albert Kenyani Inima and Dr. George Azenga Sagasi Keya.
GLWEF is a Non-Governmental Organization , a Not-for-Profit Organization and a Non-Political Organization . GLWEF is a public charity that is sustained through voluntary donations from the local donors as well as international development actors.
The vision of the founders is to see the educational institutions in Tiriki West Division of Hamisi District , Kenya, provide world class education.
The society slid into inactivity when some of the founders left the country for further studies for long periods of time. The society is being revived with the official launch of this strategic plan commencing on 1 October 2009.
