    • Billboard Music Awards 2013: Black And White, And Black-And-White

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards blue carpet was teeming with sexy, stylish celebrity guests. Being that it was in Las Vegas, we expected lots of glitter and skintight silhouettes, but we were pleasantly surprised. The looks were refreshingly high-fashion in striking black, white or a combination thereof.

As for the ladies who went dark, Emmy Rossum was gorgeous in a long-sleeved black Zuhair Murad gown with mesh and swiss dot panels, while Ke$ha shocked us in a different way than usual. From her natural makeup and unfussy hair to her simple, chic Givenchy and Palladium outfit, she underwent a major makeunder.

Hayden Panettiere was sophisticated in a halter-neck black gown with Old Hollywood hair, and Jenny McCartney showed off her rock 'n' roll side in a low-cut tank, lots of chunky jewelry, and a sliced-up skirt.

Jennifer Morrison played with proportions in a bodysuit with sheer overlay by Kristian Aadnevik.

Alyssa Milano was a vision in a white Emilio Pucci outfit. An embroidered

    • In Defense Of Kim Kardashian's Maternity Style

Bright color, rich texture, form-fitting silhouettes, bold make-up and stand-out accessories make up Kim's maternity style arsenal. With Kate Middleton as the de facto celebrity maternity style crowd favorite -- a beautiful woman, albeit one whose pregnancy is barely discernible -- the world of expecting women need representation from Kim Kardashian.  She's big, overflowing even; and she reminds us all that women need not only become vessels for the unborn, we deserve and are entitled to maintain our identities through our personal style. And, ultimately, women's bodies get enough negative attention in the media (not to mention in politics), without having to suffer public prenatal judgement.

Much in the way Jessica Simpson and Kate Hudson were tortured in the media over their respective weight gains, there is an entire camp of (questionable) humans who disagree, and who throw women under the bus in exchange for page views. And they're, overwhelmingly, women themselves.

It's hard to tell that beautiful Kate Middleton -- who is also due in July -- is even pregnant, from the front! The style editor of the Huffington Post, who surely has spoken with Kim herself about her physical pregnancy symptoms, has helpfully road mapped a

    • One Piece, Seven Days: Statement Shorts

Zara Embroidered Shorts With Beading, $89.90.It may not feel like Spring, yet, but the shops are positively overflowing with awesome clothes for the warmer months. One of the most often asked styling questions at The Thread is the matter of what to do with non-basic pieces that fall outside of our wardrobe comfort zones.

These structured, low-slung, flat-front embroidered shorts from Zara may be intimidating at first, but they're actually quite versatile. Wear them at work with a chambray blazer and loafers or a soft patterned button down and platform wedges, or on the weekend with a cheeky tee and basic sneakers. At the beach, they jazz up a molded bikini top and leather flip flops. For drinks with the girls, a shrunken sweatshirt is contrasted nicely against strappy, laser-cut sandals. And for date night, a leather tank and metallic stilettos is best. Finally, for festival season, we love them with a motorcycle vest and cut-out leather ankle boots.

    • Don't Mind Us, We're Just Batting Our Lashes At Natasha Khan

Natasha Khan | Photo courtesy of Dave M. Benett/Getty Images
We have a major style crush on Natasha Khan, the singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known on stage as Bat for Lashes. Critics have likened the 33-year-old's moody yet dance-driven music to that of Bjork, Cat Power, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple.

And her style is amazing. This floor-length, peach-toned, three-quarter sleeved column dress was made for her tiny frame. At any given moment in time, somewhere out there, there's a stylist ordering her client to "belt it!" --and Natasha is hip to that famous sartorial trick. The way she matched her 1970s-era boots to the belt makes the look feel so polished without being stuffy. But let's talk about that subtle Peter Pan collar and the long silver and gold hammered necklace she layered under it. Her subtle, personal jewelry and opalescent sheer nail polish is so feminine.

And that HAIR. We all know that short styles are super hot right now, with models and actresses alike making the chop. We love this smoothed-out, flipped under,

    • Ke$ha's Dumb And Her Brother's Dumber

Shock-pop singer, Ke$ha (real name Kesha Rose Sebert), and her little brother, Louie Sebert, gave a shout out to the cult classic Jim Carrey movie, "Dumb and Dumber" at the 26th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. They recreated the charity ball scene wearing retro powder blue and bright orange suits complete with coordinating top hats and canes. The outfits were a hilarious and accurate albeit random replication of those originally worn by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in the 1994 film.

Ke$ha paired her suit with some outrageous a-morir by Kerin Rose sunglasses, before changing into a totally crazy fur jacket ensemble for her on-stage performance.

Adorably, when E! host Khloe Kardashian Odom asked the brother and sister duo what they were wearing, Louie replied that they were dressed as "Dumber and Dumber," before giggling and correcting his mistake.

Though this is the first time we've noticed Ke$ha's brother Louie, he actually had a cameo in her debut music video, "Tik Tok"

    • Your Weekly Spring Fashion Inspiration: Jessie J's Color Pop Layers

If you're like us, it's taking you an inordinate amount of time to get out of bed each morning because of Daylight Savings. Add to that the challenge of figuring out what to wear when it's snowing one minute and sixty-five degrees the next, and its really next to impossible to get your feet to touch the floor.

That's why we're bringing you weekly outfit inspiration--all month!--to celebrate the arrival of Spring!

Let's start with the awesome singer/songwriter Jessie J, who was spotted in chilly NYC in this fantastic outfit.

She started with the great base outfit of black-and-white striped super skinny jeans and a fuzzy cropped tomato red sweater--both from Topshop. A pop of color and a neutral. Fabulous. Then she added a thigh-length, boxy, oversized black coat from Moka (echoing the stripes in her pants) to play with proportion.

Kurt Geiger stilettos picked up the color of her sweater and a leather Mulberry satchel tied the look together. Wouldn't it feel great to trade your chunky,

      Structured skort.
Yeah, we didn't think we'd be endorsing the skort ever since our mothers made us wear them in the third grade, either. However, trust us. This piece, hybrid in both name and function, is great for adding polish when you inevitably find yourself networking, and for wind.

      Something warm for night.
Austin's daytime temperature may reach the 80's, but the nighttime temperature may sink to the 50's. Be prepared, and be

Drew Barrymore at the 1995 MTV VMAs.In the nineties when Drew Barrymore was best friends with Courtney Love and brownish-red matte lipsticks, she had an ongoing obsession with daisies (and butterflies, but that's another story). Almost twenty years later, daisies are back in a big way. Retailers from the budget chain store to the haute couturier are showing them in many iterations. From crop tops and sneakers to neon skirts and tiny studs, check out our roundup of the coolest daisy-themed stuff on the market right now.
