    • A Wild Turkey Hunt Saved a Bear and Her Cubs

The sky is gray and winds blow against our faces like it's pushing us up the long winding mountain in search of shooting a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Momma has expressed to Dad and I that a wild turkey would be great for the meal because she's also preparing a special deer meat dish too. Our family likes wild meat and Momma is an expert at preparing the meats into a delicious tasty meal.

Snow flurries flitter against and on to our faces like hail bouncing on to the ground as gusts bite at our noses and faces. Many hunters suffer through a lot of hardships to prove they can hunt and kill their own meat to eat. They end up with frostbite hands and feet just to prove their point of being able to kill what they eat.

I've been hunting with Dad for years and I've never been able to shoot a turkey, deer, and bear or for that matter any creature. I'm not against someone killing an animal if they're hungry and in need of it for food; otherwise, I say, "Leave them alone," and

    • Gossip in Our Society Can Be Hazardous to Our Health

There's violence in our society and there are people who do wrongs to their friends and others through poisonous gossip or other acts of violence against them. We live in a society that is fed by Satan on a daily basis and many people wallow in the evil spirits that surround them. Evil destroys people's families, homes, relationships and friendships, and it can ruin a person's life permanently. All of us need to take a lesson from the Bible scriptures that speak about how Satan affects people and their lives.

In Leviticus 19: 6 it states, "Thou shall not go up and down as a talebearer among the people: neither shall you stand against the blood of your neighbor, and not suffer in sin upon him."

In Proverbs 11:9 tells us, "A hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered."

People when we speak about our neighbors and others in the form of gossip, we're committing a wrong unto them. Gossip is wrong and we should shun

    • Wisdom Leads a Person to Make Sound Judgments of What is Right or Wrong

Reading the Bible can open our eyes to many wise things and it can also teach us that it takes wisdom to know good judgment, to learn, and to obtain knowledge to live by the laws of the land.

Proverbs 30 & 31 (Versus 25 through 31) - In the Holy Bible, King James Version, Old Testament, explains to us there are four things which are little upon this earth, but they are diligent, wise, and workers with an ability to know they must work, learn, and make sound judgments to care for themselves:

      (1) Consider the ant in the eyes of people it is only a tiny insect and generally without any wings, it's not strong nor can it defend itself against a predator but it is wise enough to prepare its meat in the summer.

      (2) Conies are rock badgers or hyraxes and they're sort of feeble, but they're wise enough to make their houses among the rocks to protect them and to house them for survivor and against predators.

      (3) The locusts have "no" kings but they'll gather and go in bands

    • Faith when We Pray Builds a Foundation for Replies

Oft times in people's lives they request prayers from God but they're disappointed when their prayers are not answered according to their wishes. They'll pray for one thing but God responds differently from what they requested by answering them with something different. Do you think this causes people to question God's reply to their prayers; thus, causing them to doubt and question God's faithfulness to them? I've heard people make a comment that God did not answer their prayers as they had requested; and saying, "God must not be listening to me anymore?" (Ephesians 6:14 thru 18)

People when we pray, it's essential to take the 'shield of faith' and believe God has heard the prayers and he will answer them to best gratify the requirements for his planned future for his people. People we need to pray like God's word tells us by praying with supplication and having faith God will supply their prayer needs to best fit the life he's chosen for them. (Ephesians 6:16)

    • Tattoos Can Be a Hazard to Your Health

Commentary: I've wondered many times about people who are tattooing their bodies, tongues, nose, lips, and etc., and I've asked myself, "How do these people know they're not being tattooed with tainted ink or clean needles?"

I could not believe it when I read this article in http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/22/tattoo-infection-tainted-ink-mycobacterium-ch... that there is an outbreak of infected tattoos and it possibly came from an unlikely source, the ink. It was reported by researchers this past Wednesday that there was the largest outbreak, 19 people in Rochester, N.Y., who have bubbly rashes on their new tattoos. As the popularity of tattoos continue to grow, health officials indicated they're seeing more cases of a nasty skin infection which is caused by a common bacterial that has been traced to the ink.

I'm glad my question finally received an answer from health officials. I've had this concern for some time now. I've also thought about the spread of the HIV

    • Commentary - Casinos Could Cause Major Problems Throughout the Country

Commentary/People like to gamble and it's a big business for casinos because they reap billions of dollars every year from those who love to gamble. There are gambling addicts who gamble every day of their lives and they spend every cent they make in casinos. I've actually known people who've become gambling addicts and they would do anything to get the money to gamble. They would disappear for days gambling and they would actually lose track of time and the days. I've seen them ruin their life and lose their families but they continued to gamble at any form of gaming they could until they lost every thing they had and also their families.

People are at casinos spending big bucks; and in a lot of cases, they cannot afford the money they're spending because it takes away from their necessities to provide for their families and themselves. Years ago when casinos where popular in a neighboring state many of those people would spend their entire earnings and then have "no" money for rent

    • Gas Prices Are Creeping Up Again

Commentary: People are we going to see a drop in oil prices because of speculation the U.S. will release reserves? I've noticed for the past two months that oil prices have been creeping up again; and then today I read at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/27/oil-prices-plunging_n_1833206.html as the threat of production from Tropical Storm Isaac appeared to lessen and traders speculating that a release of oil from U.S. reserves may occur.

The article stated the weather forecasts for Isaac are easing some and letting-up the fear that Isaac might damage key oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center is now predicting Isaac will grow to a Category 1 hurricane in lieu of a Category 2 hurricane. A Category 1 hurricane winds can range from 74 mph to 95 mph.

The article stated that Gene McGillian, oil analyst for Tradition Energy, stated the production centers in the Gulf are able to withstand low-level hurricanes.

      It also stated the Gulf

    • Randy Travis is Sinking into the Pits the Unknown - Will He Get a Grip?

I'm amazed at Randy Travis` constant escapade's here of late, and I ask myself, "What in the world is happening to Randy Travis who has been on the top charts of the Country Music Charts for several years."

I've been a fan of his music, and especially his gospel music, since he first came out on the country charts. If alcohol is his problem, I would hope that Randy will take a serious look at himself and all of his escapade's and come before the news media and make some statements about what's causing his terrible problems. I might add, "Is it the people you're involving yourself with Travis?"

I just got a message on the Internet at http://www.tmz.com/2012/08/24/randy-travis-church-fight-drunk-intoxicated/?icid=maing-... Stating that the Plano Police Department told TMZ that Travis had been cited for simple assault. The officials also told TMZ they believed Travis was the primary aggressor in the fight. The police indicated there was a family argument taking place between

    • Amish Men and Women Suffered Unwanted Hair Cuts by Suspects

According to the hhtp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/27/amish-beard-cutting-attacks-ohio-trial_n_1833… sixteen people in Jefferson County in Cleveland, Ohio have been charged with hate crimes in the hair-cutting attacks on fellow Amish which go to trial this week in Ohio.

I was in awe as I read in the article that the suspects in this case had forcibly cut the beards and the hair of Amish men and the hair of women last fall. I cannot believe anyone would have the audacity to cut a woman's hair much less a man's because of how they view their religious beliefs. This is totally ludicrous and I cannot believe anyone would have the nerve to do such a thing. This appears to me that it goes back to the Dark Ages. The attacks were motivated by religious differences according to authorities.

This is one act that in my belief is horrendous and I think the suspects, if charged, should be punished to the maximum if they're convicted. What in the world is wrong with people in our
