Ever wonder how you would look as a redhead, or with the mane of Jennifer Aniston? Well now you can. The latest must-have fashion accessory is a wig! Not so long ago, wigs were considered a fashion taboo, but today, celebrities like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Adele have made wigs a stylish hairstyle option.

The Shine’s resident fashion stylist, Dena Giannini, says wigs are certainly a growing trend, as more and more women turn to wigs for an instant new look. “Women are changing their hairstyles today more than ever before. • Makeup trends for fall

As we transition our clothing from summer to fall, beauty experts say our makeup should change as well. And because Shine readers love to stay on top of the latest beauty ideas, The Shine’s enlisted the help of Erik Soto, Sephora PRO Lead Artist to reveal the top fall makeup trends. Starting with the eyes. Erik says purple, smokey eyes will be a fall favorite. “It’s like the new nudes, because purple goes with brown eyes, it makes them look lighter. And then with blue or green, it’s on the opposite side of the color wheels, so it’s very complimentary”. Another trend to expect this season; well-defined eyes. For this, Erik says you’ll need a black liner in either a liquid or a pencil. For a liquid liner, Erik recommends the Christian Dior Style Liner. A great pencil eyeliner? Erik likes the Givenchy Kohl Eye Liner, because it’s “soft” and “smudgeable”. As far as skin goes, this fall matte skin is in, and according to Erik you get it by using medium to full coverage foundation.

    • Teens take on Teen Vogue

When 17-year old Emma Stydahar and 16-year old Carina Cruz open up Teen Vogue, they don’t like the models they see. “Yes we are opposed to the ‘perfect’ models, with perfect bodies, and no blemishes. We believe they are digitally altered and don’t represent real girls.” So the two teamed up with SPARK, a girl activist group, and staged a demonstration outside Conde Nast in New York City, publisher of Teen Vogue. They petitioned the magazine to feature unaltered, and unretouched girls. The teens argue that Teen Vogue and other magazines, read by vulnerable young readers, present an unrealistic notion of beauty, threatening their self-esteem and leading to depression and eating disorders.  Teen Vogue did issue a statement saying it makes a “conscious and continuous effort to promote a positive body image among our readers..we feature healthy models on the pages of our magazine and shoot dozens of non-models and readers every year and do not retouch them to alter their body size. Long, thick eyelashes can instantly make eyes look bigger, fuller, and sexier, but unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with them. For decades, celebrities (with the help of their makeup artists) have solved this problem by applying fake lashes - a practice that seemed too complicated and, well, icky for the most of us.  Not anymore. “The Shine” asked celebrity make-up guru Travis Culberson for step-by-step instructions on how to apply fake lashes at home. Turns out, it's a lot easier than you'd think.
