The year is 1858 California is unsettled. I am in the wild west on a route that went from Los Angeles back East through Tucson and back.
I was taking the Stagecoach from Tucson to Los Angeles on the Bradshaw Trail. This trail was known for Wild West action such as robbery, horse rustling, and a few honest men trying to make there fortune finding Gold. The stages were drawn by six horses and two drivers who were heavy armed because the stage was know to carry heavy shipments of gold heading for the docks of Los Angeles. As we passed this row of Cottonwoods I looked out and saw 3 men who had just been hanged in the trees we hear later they were cattle rustlers who were just caught .This was about a mile or two from where our rest stop was. The Cottonwoods were beautiful and the row stretched all the way to the Ranch. This rest stop and service area called Whitewater Station was at the end of the cottonwoods. A welcome site for travelers riding in those uncomfortable coaches. I
