    • LUBRIDERM Daily Moisture Shea with Calming Lavender Jasmine Lotion Review

My first impression when I applied the Lubriderm Daily Moisture lotion was the scent. The scent was quite strong upon application but it wasn't bothersome as I LubridermLubridermreally like the smell of lavender and jasmine. I was impressed by how long the scent lingered. In fact when I first used the lotion after my bath my husband mentioned how nice the smell was. Apparently he liked the scent too.

I also liked the added ingredient of Shea Butter. Shea has great moisturizing properties and usually doesn't irritate sensitive skin. At least it didn't bother my sensitive skin.

The lotion did as it claims in soothing dry skin. Living in the North Country my hands are always dry and I suffer from occasional dry patches of skin on my hands and legs. I felt that this lotion really soothed those dry areas.

The lotion absorbs well and left no greasy feeling behind. I would recommend this product and I use it faithfully. This product retails at about $7.99 in the store which to me is comparative

    • A Break Through in Lip Balms - Baby Lips by Maybelline

After the first application my lips felt smooth and silky and didn't give that greasy feel like some balms do. I tried Cherry Me and the color was nice and the smell fantastic. The lip balms come in four tints (Cherry Me, Pink Punch, Grape Vine, Peach Kiss) and two clear (Quenched, Peppermint).

    • Not Just a Brush – A Wondrous Hair Tool!

Braun Satin Hair Brush w/Ion TechnologyBraun Satin Hair Brush w/Ion TechnologyThe Braun Satin Hair brush with ion technology is wonderful! The brush does not pull at my hair like my inexpensive brushes do and the ion technology leaves my hair smooth.

I have thick, wavy, and coarse hair that is prone to frizz, so I usually use a leave in conditioner after washing it to tame the frizz. Additionally when I use a flat iron on my hair I always end of with those flyaway hairs. So with that in mind, I put the hair brush through some tests. First I washed my hair as normal and did not use a leave in conditioner to tame frizz and just let it dry naturally. After my hair was dry I brushed my hair with the Satin Hair brush and it really made a significant difference by smoothing out the hair, reducing frizz and added much needed shine. The second test was to see if it would reduce flyways after using a flatiron and sure enough it worked.

I really like the brush and found it easy to handle, however you have to be careful not to cover the ion jet with your

    • Do You Use Hair Serums? An easy fix for dry, frizzy hair

Hair serums are a styling aid that treats frizz, manages curl and adds shine. The main causes of frizz are due to rough and open cuticles of the hair shaft. The open, rough cuticles of the hair lets moisture into the hair shaft causing it to swell and create frizz. When a hair serum is applied, it coats and smoothes the hair cuticles sealing the cuticles flat. Additionally hair serums protect the hair from heat generated styling tools such as flat irons and hair dryers and can add much needed shine to dull hair.

Most commercial hair serums contain amino acids, cermaides, (Ceramides are lipids (oil) that naturally occur in the strands and acts as a binder to keep the cuticle layer in place), and a silicone derived emollient. These products coat the hair, much like a plastic wrap, and while they protect from heat generated styling aids and can tame frizzy hair, they are somewhat heavy and can weigh down the hair. Additionally, continued use of these products cause buildup and

    • Beauty Guru Post: 11 Hair Care Tips

Dry hair - avoid over washing your hair and consider a shampoo containing humectants or that offer a low ph balance. Shampoos that have a high ph or ph balancing shampoos often lift the cuticle of the hair thus allowing moisture to evaporate from the hair.

Reduce static electricity - Cut down on static electricity by dampening your hair brush before brushing.

Wait before you shampoo after coloring your hair. Did you know that every time you wash your hair you open the cuticle of your hair? Therefore, after coloring your hair wait at least 48 hours before you shampoo allowing the color to seal.

Braided hair - For those that braid their hair use a gel to smooth down uncontrolled hairs. Place a small amount of gel on your fingertip or hairpin and and move the stray hairs into the braided section.

Flexible but styled - Want a soft look but still want your hairstyle to stay in place. Spray some hairspray in the palm of your hand and smooth over the surface.
