Use your knife or spatula to break the remaining shadow into pieces until it is all broken.
Pour a few drops of alcohol into the eyeshadow, dampening the entire surface but not flooding it.

Take a coin the size of your eyeshadow and put it inside a piece of cloth or a paper towel. Press the coin down on the eyeshadow for about 15 seconds.

Forget prom queen. You'll be the empress after you follow these makeup steps for the big night.
Start by applying a foundation or tinted moisturizer. I used L'Oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup for a glowing complexion. Use concealer for extra coverage, to hide under eye circles or acne. I love L'Oreal True Match Super-blendable Crayon Concealer.
Apply a shimmering champagne eyeshadow, like L'Oreal 24HR Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte, to the inner corners of your eyes. Then apply a shimmering bronze, like the same brand in Amber Rush, to the lid area. Finish off with a purple eyeshadow -- same brand in Perpetual Purple -- on the outer corners of the eyes, as well as the lower lash line.
Use a light brown to blend with the purple and fade into the crease of the eyes. Lastly, apply a soft shimmery white shadow to the brow bone.
The last step for your eyes is to apply a liquid liner to the upper lash line

After following these tips, Cara Delevingne's fierce brows will have nothing on you.
Brush your brows into place with a spoolie. Then apply an eyeshadow primer like BECCA's Eye Priming Perfector, $24, to get more wear out of the products you'll use to fill in your brows.
Use a brow pencil to softly fill in the brows -- l love Anastasia's Brow Wiz, $21. I start at the tail end and do short, feathery strokes to keep it looking natural.

To set the pencil, use an angled brush and a brow powder like the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo, $23, and lightly fill in the brows. Use a lighter powder at the beginning of your brows, and a darker powder at the tail end.
Brush through your brows with a spoolie to blend the pencil and powder. Then use a clear brow gel to brush the brows in place -- I used Tweezerman Browmousse, $12.
Take a concealer of your choice and

While these can be useful, they are quite expensive, considering you can use regular shampoo or baby shampoo for the same job.
You can replace this expense by getting a little bit of hairspray onto your finger or a spoolie (brow brush), and brushing out your brows with it.
Dermatologists question the usefulness of toner because just wetting your face can also prime it for better absorption of skin-care products. Some types of oily skin could benefit from the product, but as a whole, most women can skip it.
Primer is meant to extend the wear of your foundation and provide a barrier between your skin and the foundation. Although it's not a bad product to have, most foundations already have primers in them. Also, simply applying a facial moisturizer works in the same way.

For spring, add pop to your makeup routine with subtle colors -- try going for a bright-pink lip and green liner. The idea is to take inspiration from the colors of blooming and incorporating them in fresh, creative ways. A good one to try is Stila's new, intense Countless Color Pigments, $22 each, which can blend together to create your own unique shade.
Apply Stila's Countless Color Pigment in Groupie to the inner corners of your eyes. Then take the bronze pigment and apply it to the rest of your eye, up to right above the crease. To intensify the eye, take the dark-brown pigment and smudge it on the outer corners. Then take a clean brush and blend out any harsh lines.
Apply Stila's Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Turquoise, $20, to the lower lash line and slightly flick it upwards at the outer corners of the eyes.
Using Stila's Countless Color Pigment in Light Show, apply a mix of the dark and light blue to the

Textured nail polishes are the hot trend for the spring and summer seasons. They're easy ways to have nail art without having to spend the extra time. And matte-finish nail polishes are the modern alternative to traditional, shiny-finish products.
Check out my picks for both trends below.
Zoya has one of the most-innovative nail-effect polishes. The PixieDust collection features a matte, sugary look. It feels a little like soft sand applied to your nails. The polishes are long-wearing, fast-drying, and do not require a base or top coat. My absolute favorite is Godiva, $9, the perfect soft-nude color packed with sugary sparkle.
Nails Inc. London
One of my favorites is the Feathers Effect Nail Polish, $9.50, which has tiny feather-like particles in complementary colors to create a quill effect on the nails. The polish in Brighton has teal and yellow flecks that gives a pretty pop of color to your nails. The polish can be worn by

We know you love her. Show her you love her every day: Don't let her wash dishes. Give her foot massages. Make her lunch and take her to the movies for a #girldate.
But on Mother's Day, give your mami something extra-special.
My mom goes crazy over perfumes. Nordstrom Beauty tends to be my fragrance destination, as it sells practically every perfume I could want to try, and the awesome customer service doesn't hurt.
Thierry Mugler's sweet set, the Alien by Thierry Mugler Gift Set, $184, includes the Alien perfume as well as a shower gel and body lotion, all housed in an super-cute cupcake container. Alien is a seductive scent with notes of jasmine, cardamom, orange blossom, cumin, cashmeran, amber, and heliotrope flower. Also, a cool feature of Nordstrom is that the Alien bottle can be refilled at any store location.
Another great choice is the Bond No. 9 I Love New York for Mothers, $175. This potent floral fragrance features top
When it comes to makeup, are you at #hoarderstatus? Don't be ashamed. That just means you are a product connoisseur. But the clutter will get messy if you don't organize now and then. Here's how I do it, using office supplies and beauty organizers.
The places I've found with the best storage items for my makeup is The Container Store, and oddly enough, Staples and Walmart. I found an awesome acrylic lipstick organizer at The Container Store that perfectly stores and displays my lipstick, for around $7. So much easier than digging around through a bag to find my favorite lippie!
For brushes, I have two options that work great, and the first is a DIY brush holder. Just get a large container -- I used a small glass vase from Michael's -- and fill it with acrylic beads to keep the brushes standing up. If you prefer to buy, get a rotating brush organizer to store all of your brushes and maybe some other makeup items.
For items such as eye shadows,

Sulfate-free and safe for treated hair
It's still important to use a shampoo safe for color-treated hair even though you only have the lower layer colored. And since you're going to have a good portion of your hair bleached, it's a good idea to use a sulfate-free shampoo to keep your hair's natural moisture.
I love the Balm En Root Shampoo & Conditioner, $15 each. Also, using a leave-in conditioner will help the health of your hair over time and keep your ends from splitting. Try a keratin-infused formula like It's a 10 Miracle Leave-in Plus Keratin treatment spray, $11, which will restore the moisture and keratin that was compromised during the bleaching process.
At-home ombré kit
Don't want to spend the big bucks to get the ombré style? The L'Oreal Paris Feria Wild Ombré at-home kit will attain the same effect at a fraction of the salon price.
It's easy to use. All you have to do is mix the dye and developer together and apply a squirt of

So many makeup companies are blending sunscreen into their products, so it's easier than ever to integrate SPF into your makeup routine. Because wrinkles are largely caused by sun exposure, and too much vitamin D can cause skin cancer on top of that, you need to protect your skin whenever you go outdoors.
Here are some products that will keep you guarded during the day:
The best practice is to apply a layer of sunscreen under your foundation everyday. My favorite is Clinique's Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector Broad Spectrum 40 SPF, $22. It's a weightless formula that includes broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection, as well as antioxidant ingredients, which protect against environmental damage.
Apply to your face and neck and use as a primer foundation or by itself. I love that the formula works well with my oily skin type and doesn't make me look greasy.
Something to keep in mind: If you're going to be
