    • Fresh New Looks for Colored Denim

      By Alexis, HerGameLife Style Contributor

Colored denim is definitely a hot trend these days! Neon, pastel and primary colors are dominating the shops and fashion magazines. Traditional blue denim will always be the staple; however this trend is a great opportunity to update your game day style and wardrobe. The bold colors are a fun way to energize your ensembles.

Pair the jeans with your favorite NFL tee, wedges or sandals in the warmer weather and boots for the cooler temps. It's best to style the bright jeans with neutrals including whites, grays and earthy browns. Nude, or metallic leather shoes, as well as accessories will give your look a cool, casual vibe.

Brats, burgers, chicken, repeat... They are wonderful staples of the grilling seasons, but there is a sleeper in the crowd - and they are versitile and oh so easy. We love easy. Try frozen meatballs for your next party! You can find them in the freezer section of most grocery stores. There are a few brands, try them all - pick your favorite. I tend towards homestyle as I prefer the flavor. On the grill they form a nice crispy outer crust and stay moist on the inside.

Here I have paired them with fresh peppers and pineapple. I tried out new skewer "circles" - and a note of caution, the skewers become slippery quickly while putting the food on them. Watch those fingers!

Thaw the meatballs over night in the fridge or for a few minutes in the microwave before skewering. They don't take long on the grill, maybe 3-4 minutes a side. Make sure if they are sharing a skewer with another food

A wrap up on 49ers LB Patrick Willis' ProCamp last weekend wouldn't be complete without taking a moment to talk to the parents of some of the kids who participated in the camp. Two of the major controversies surrounding football players from high school through the pros are academic preparation and safet. HerGameLife roamed the bleachers of the ProCamp to discuss these issues with some of the parents.

I first spoke with some of the mothers about their role in assuring that their kids focus on academics just as much as they do on football. One mother, Prabha Boyles (Hayward, CA), says she is fully behind her seven year-old son's participation in his first year of football "but when summer ends, the focus is on school when it resumes." Monica Balistreri (San Jose, CA), a mother of three boys all playing football, an enthusiast of the sport, and board

    • Positive Message for Kids from NFL Player Patrick Willis

      By Jennifer, HerGameLife 49ers Blogger

Under the sun at Palo Alto High School this past weekend, over 300 boys and girls ages 7-14 gathered on the football field for an unforgettable experience with San Francisco 49er inside linebacker Patrick Willis. What left a lasting impression on some of the kids is what surprised me the most, but a few details about the camp first.

ProCamps is a well oiled machine. They have a great staff and the ratio of kids to coach is about 8 to 1. The kids are grouped by age and do a number of drills on both sides of the ball then eventually scrimmage. The coaches are enthusiastic and very encouraging. The build up for these kids is immense so there were occasional emotional breakdowns, but the attentive coaching staff was ready with a pep talk and a hug. The "head coach" for the camp for both days was Rod Huber, head football coach for College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. Huber has been a coach for over 30 years and has worked with

Let's face it. Summer is about being outside, for us as well as our favorite NFL teams and players. But they're stuck with OTAs, while we get to enjoy a better sunny activity: picnics.

Whether you hit the park or the beach, bring the kids or a group of friends, picnicking is the perfect way to enjoy a day outside. Before you get to lunch, though, here's two games you might not have tried before that can kick off your day. These are both games you can play with family and friends of all ages - and they're also easy to transport to your favorite picnic spot.

As the spring weather warms the winter out of our bones we continue our simple cooking series with light and easy dishes. This is to practice our knife skills as we await the arrival of the next NFL season. We should analyze the food we buy. Read the labels. Figure out what our food will do for us. Today's series, just in time for Cinco de Mayo, focuses on careful ingredient selection for guacamole.
