    • Try the sweet dessert bars with a healthy salad or just alone!

Although, the JELL-O mosaic dessert bar recipe is fun to make and eat the way it is, I have a variation you might like as well. The recipe calls for making four types of JELL-O and then cutting it into cubes and pouring a milky mixture over it for a mosaic effect. After chilling for two hours you have a colorful and tasty dessert you can slice and serve.

My variation involves arranging the cubes in sections. By separating out the colors I was able to create a orange creamsicle-like section, a lemon creme section, and a strawberries and cream section. I was still able to have my mixed cubed section as well. Whether you decide to serve this at a party or are trying to please picky eaters at your house, the splitting of the flavors allows you to make everything in one pan and still have something a little different for everyone to pick from. You could even spell someone's name out with the cubes if you wanted to get really creative.

No-bake desserts are where it's at, especially as the weather turns warmer and I can't bear the thought of heating up my kitchen with baking. JELL-O marshmallow crispy lemon pie appealed to me as a laid-back baker, a mom with kids and a husband to please and feed, and simply because the recipe looked easy enough. Would it live up to expectation?

Indeed. This simple dessert was ideal for one of the first warm days of the season.

      Getting started

The ingredients were simple to grab from my local grocery store, and I already had a few in the fridge or pantry. You'll need 1.5 TBSP of butter, 4 cups of mini marshmallows, ½ a package of lemon JELL-O, 1 package of lemon JELL-O instant pudding, 3 cups of crispy rice cereal, 1.5 cups of milk, and sliced, fresh strawberries or raspberries for garnish. I spent less than $10 on these ingredients, and there were leftovers, too!

      Helping around the kitchen

    • Try serving the jellies with crackers.
JELL-O raspberry-pomegranate jellies are a quick and easy dessert that anyone can make. I especially liked this dessert because my kids could make it. When choosing recipes for my kids to make I first look at the number of ingredients; five to seven ingredients means my kids are less likely to get things confused. Second, I make sure the measurements are simple and easy to understand. (For this recipe I had to make sure I pointed out the sugar was divided). Finally, I always try to stick with recipes that use a small amount of bowls, pans, and utensils since my kids are still not well-versed in cleaning up the kitchen. This recipe passed my three tests with flying colors! If you are looking for fun snack to make with your kids or want something quick and fun to make and take for your next get together, the JELL-O raspberry-pomegranate jellies might be the way to go.

Here is what you will need to have to make 12 servings which is about 24 small cubes. I recommend doubling or tripling

"Who wants to make tie-dye cupcakes?"--The words aren't even out of my mouth before my five and seven year old daughters are making a mad dash for the kitchen and helping me rustle up the ingredients. Nothing gets those girls moving like dessert. Would JELL-O tie-dye fruity cupcakes measure up to their high taste standards?

      The preparations

The ingredients to make these cupcakes were inexpensive and easily obtainable from the grocery store (I sent my husband and he came back with everything we needed!). You'll need any white cake mix and the ingredients to bake the cake as directed. My cake, for instance, required three eggs, a cup of water, and a quarter of a cup of vegetable oil. Purchase three JELL-O Flavor Gelatin packages-lime, lemon, and strawberry. Finally, you'll need paper cupcake holders, a whipped vanilla frosting, and one small plastic bag to use for piping.

      The cupcakes

After making the cake mix as directed on the box, I evenly distributed the batter into

    • Spiced pudding squares for your holiday parties!

While I might dread putting a meal for my family of five on the table every night of the week, I simply love baking. Whether I'm doing it for a holiday party or simply for my husband and the kids, I love baking a delicious dessert that everyone will rave about, especially in the winter. I do get tired of my holiday staples, though, and this year I headed out to see what I could try that would add some pizazz to my holiday dessert table. Spiced pudding squares fit the bill-and exceeded my expectations.

      Bang for your buck

The ingredients were all available for under $15, and the finished dessert filled a 13x9 baking pan. It served my family of five, plus a neighbor's family of five, with leftovers. You can't beat that! The actual cooking/mixing time was short. The dessert can be made up to two days in advance, so you can avoid last minute party prep.

      Simple start
