World-renowned photographer Brian Bowen Smith has long been a favorite of Marc Jacobs--he's the man behind the images taken for his infamous Naked tees promoting skin cancer awareness and has worked with the designer on campaigns for years now. With the release of his second book, "Projects," at the New York location of Bookmarc, the Marc Jacobs' bookstore, Thread host and supermodel Jessica Stam sat down with the artist to discuss his latest project, shooting naked celebrities and his Marc Jacobs connection.
Jessica Stam: Is there a running theme or certain composition that links all the images together in your book?
Brian Bowen Smith: There are like seven or eight different projects that I have been working on and the only link is that they are all just projects that I am continually working and expanding on. It's literally an autobiography of what I have been doing since shooting Selma Blair, who was the very first celebrity I photographed, and then the girl in the front with a

Everyone has their go-to outfit. Some people live in tee shirts and jeans while some people (ahem, looking at YOU, Janelle Monae) have made tuxedos their signature look, but it seems as though the great minds of Jessica Alba and Miranda Kerr think alike when it comes to a summer uniform.
These two stylish ladies both know that a short and breezy floral sundress sometimes needs a casual-yet-sophisticated spin. A great way to get that look is with a classic jean jacket, a slouchy, oversized handbag, sunglasses, and a pair of booties. In this case, both girls are rocking Isabel Marant's "Caleen" ankle boots, which hit at just the right height on each girl's ankle that accentuate long legs and have just enough embellishment to offer a bit of visual interest. This outfit is comfortable enough for a marathon day of errands, but put-together enough so that you actually want to be seen in public.
The real question here is "Who Wore it Best?" It's a difficult call--both outfits are so similarly Read More »from Jessica Alba & Miranda Kerr Are Twinsies!Memorial Day Packing: Multitasking at Its Chicest

By Julie Pereira, Thread Blogger | Hit List – Sun, May 19, 2013 10:16 PM EDTWhile we have nothing against a statement necklace or eye-catching earrings, we're having a total love affair with stacks and stacks of delicate rings at the moment. And it looks like we're not the only ones! When music's hottest stars walked down the blue carpet at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas we could barely tear our attention away from the ring parties taking place on stars like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Miley Cyrus. The gorgeous gowns and graphic black-and-white trends were great too, but you've gotta love a hefty dose of knuckle bling. Our favorites of the night:

Jennifer Lopez - The pop legend/girl from the block made her first appearance at the Billboards in a decade or so, and boy, did she arrive. We love how she matched her fistfuls of rings with her golden Zuhair Murad gown. J.Lo's deep maroon nail polish added a nice layer of depth.
Miley Cyrus - Miley is never one to shy from the spotlight, that's for sure. Amidst swirling rumors about her engagementThe Band Perry Keeps it All in The Family
By Julie Pereira, Thread Blogger | Hit List – Sun, May 19, 2013 8:01 PM EDTThe Band Perry is a family affair. The country group consisting of siblings Kimberly, Reid, and Neil Perry have been pumping out hits like "Better Dig Two," "If I Die Young," and "DONE" since they were discovered by Garth Brooks' manager in 2008. This year, though, is shaping up to be their biggest one yet. The Band Perry released their sophomore album, "Pioneer," were nominated for numerous awards including Top Vocal Group at the Academy of Country Music Awards, and even performed with "American Idol" finalist Janelle Arthur during the season finale. We spoke with the siblings to talk bling, bad hair days, and how they prep for big performances like the one they're putting on tonight at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

By Julie Pereira, Thread Blogger | Style Crush – Thu, May 16, 2013 6:00 PM EDTWith the upcoming nuptials of Sports Illustrated Model, host of VH1's "Model Employee," ruler of Twitter, and all-around awesome human Chrissy Teigen coming up later this summer, Venus Gillette Razors decided to throw their newest brand ambassador (seriously, when does this girl sleep?) a bridal shower. The Thread caught up with the gorgeous gal to talk about her wedding plans, shaving, and jorts vs. jean shorts.

The Thread: Any details you can give us on the wedding?
Chrissy Teigen: I would like to share EVERYTHING which is the worst part! [My fiancé] John [Legend] has asked me to pull back on how much I say. I feel bad that people think I'm holding back from them but I genuinely don't know anything. We're sending out save the dates in the next couple of weeks, we have the guest list, we're hoping about 100 don't show. That's about it. We'll see! Gucci is designing all of John's groomsmen's suits. Gucci is obviously John's favorite--he loves a Gucci suit. So they're doing all of hisPrince: Billboard Music Icon or Fashion Icon?
By Julie Pereira, Thread Blogger | Hit List – Wed, May 15, 2013 1:58 PM EDTTrick question: obviously, he's both. The Artist Formerly (and currently) Known as Prince is slated to receive the Billboard Music Icon Award on Sunday, May 19, an honor he shares with past recipients Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond. And while we could listen to "1999," "Little Red Corvette," and "When Doves Cry" all day long--that's not even a hyperbole--what we love most about the diminutive singer is his groundbreaking sense of style. From purple velour to hooded suits, Prince has been setting and defying trends since he burst onto the scene in the late '70s and early '80s. Herewith, five reasons why we love the iconic singer.

#1.) Frilly shirts - More than Seinfeld and "Pirates of Penzance," the frilly shirt belongs to Prince. What other man could so effortlessly and unironically rock a puffy, be-ruffled blouse and still exude sex appeal? No one but Prince, that's who. Well, and Jimi Hendrix, who he was definitely influenced by…

By Julie Pereira, Thread Blogger | Hit List – Mon, May 13, 2013 4:41 PM EDTIt's hard to imagine a time when Madonna isn't making headlines. Which is why it is so absurd that almost 20 years ago, the then-37-year-old singer got a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1996 Billboard Music Awards. Lourdes knows (GET IT?!) the singer wasn't anywhere near done being a performer, provocateur, and all-around pop culture icon. Sure, it's a testament to her ability and success as a performer that she was raking in awards usually reserved for older honorees at such a young age, but Madge ain't finished quite yet. When accepting her award in 1996, Madonna told the audience she was returning home immediately to be with her newborn baby. Here's a (somewhat comprehensive) list of the things Madonna has achieved in since then. Say what you will about her, but you can't accuse her of being lazy.

#5.) Justin Bieber – Yes, he's a talented, popular young man, but you guys: those pants he insists on wearing all the time are SO bad. Like bad for humanity bad. And remember that one time he wore a gas mask while walking around in London? We just...we can't. Doesn't he have family and/or a management team that loves him? Shouldn't they be putting a stop to this kind of thing? It's just too bad the 19-year-old isn't setting a better fashion example for his legions of young fans. #StopTheMadness.

The problem: Frizz
The Duchess of Cambridge (known aliases: Kate Middleton, Princess Shinylocks) may normally be known for her immaculately polished waves, but even she knows there's no greater summer annoyance than spending time and effort on your look only to let nature have it's way with it once you step outside. While visiting the tropical climate of the Solomon Islands last year, the royal experienced what I can only assume is her very first case of the summer frizzies. She still looked better than most mortal women, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that this frazzled event could have been avoided. If our dearest mom-to-be had opted for an updo instead of her signature cascading, soft curls she might have dodged the frizz entirely.
Learn from HRH's rare misstep and go for a no-fuss braided style this summer. A braided crown like Hayden Panettiere's keeps hair tamed and in place all day long. Bonus! You don't even need to blow dry! You can achieve this style with Read More »from Summer-ize Your Hair Routine With Braids
