By Kaye Godley | Work + Money – Fri, May 21, 2010 7:41 PM EDTSince I am in the process of tying up loose ends and 'setting sail' for a 'new frontier' in my life I won't have time to do my own reviews just yet. But, this is NOT just about my reading list but also about yours.

Please participate with your own review. List the title of course, the writers name, publisher, was it in hardcover, softcover, paperback, cost, library find, etc. Tell us about your latest literary 'find' but don't share too much of the content so we will be forced to go read it for ourselves. LOL!.
Come expecting that all of us do not have the same taste, but variety is what makes things interesting, and in the process of introducing all of us to each others reading material, we may find our horizons and knowlege expanding.
I may not agree with your choices but in that, I and others may come to see you in a clearer light and have gained understanding.
I do however ask that we all treat everyone here with respect.
Like my grandma always used to say, "If you can't say"Winging It"

Dispatches From An(Almost)Empty Nest
by Catherine Goldhammer
When I first read the book cover, back and front, I thought, uh oh,
I don't think I can relate to this book, this woman or her life.
If this is about getting ready for the "empty nest " thingie,
I cannot relate, I have never had children, however...
I love this book! First of all she is a very gifted "painter" with her
words and I love that. She confesses to have 'imaginary lives' at
times, doing that "what if I had chosen this one? What if I had
married this man? What if I lived in another place, had chosen a
different path professionally?" Who of us hasn't done that?
I know I have...still do
As she faces the upcoming empty nest. to me, she begins to
remember and find herself again, who she was before...
before the husband, the child. We do tend to loose ourselves as
we progress through this life, becoming what others need
or want us to be and sadly, we often put ourselves on the
back burner"Any Minute" by Joyce Meyer

"Her life shattered in an instant...
But what if she had a chance to gain it all back?"
This will probably be the shortest book review that I have done do far.
It is the story of a career driven wife and mother who is climbing the
corporate ladder at the expense of her husband and family.
She is driven, she thinks, because she is good at what she does,
but the real driving force behind her, is her childhood.
Through an "unusual experience", actually a car accident that sends
her into a freezing river, she "finds herself" again and confronts and
overcomes the issues that have haunted her.
I did not buy this book, it belongs to a friend. Although I think highly
Ms Meyers and her ministry, I think sometimes a book becomes
a "Best Seller" because of who wrote it and not the content.
The moral of the story is good and true, but best seller material?
You be the judge.
As to the cost of the book, I have no idea.

by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
with an introduction by Loren D. Estleman
Let me begin by saying that I LOVE Sherlock Holmes. I will watch
the really old OLD movies on PBS and stay up at unreal hours of
the night to do so.
When I found this book with a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories,
I almost left my cart in the aisle and went straight to the checkout and home!
This book goes anywhere I go, if I know I will be delayed by waiting for an
appointment, mine or someone elses. I have found myself saying things like,
"oh yeah, I'll be glad to take you, I've got a good book and you just take your time."
You think I'm kidding? I am serious! I now find excuses to give someone a ride!
I will in NO way critique Sir Arthur Conan Doyle...my mama did not
raise a dummy! I love his careful depiction of the everyday, the color of
the fog in the early morning sunshine, the smells of the market in London,
the way the train whistle sounds as"What Difference Do It Make" Book Review
By Kaye Godley | This Week In Books – Fri, Nov 27, 2009 8:30 PM ESTWhen I was asked to review this book I looked forward to it, because I had enjoyed the first one so much. However, usually the sequels to many works are not up to par with the first but oh my, that does not apply to this !

"What Difference Do It Make" contains "stories of hope and healing" from the authors of "Same Kind Of Different As Me" written by Ron Hall, Denver Moore and Lynn Vincent. It is published by Thomas Nelson Publishers and was published this year. As of yet I don't think it has made the best seller list but given time I am sure it will! Once again I have to give kuddos to the cover designer. It captures perfectly the flavor and theme of the book. The covers of both books draw you in before you ever "crack" open the book.
This sequel continues with "more of the story, the rest of the story, the ongoing story" and all throughout the book are stories from others who have read the book and it has done one of two things, it has either changed their lives or caused them toOkay, I don't gush but folks, I am in love...with Lee Childs main character Jack Reacher!

I have read two of the 13 he has written so far and according to the back of the book in the
info section he was at the time of this printing working on # 14.
Lee Child is a New York Times Best Selling Author. It was published by BantumDell in 2005.
I bought the paperback(I don't care for paperbacks but oh well)466 page count
and the suggested retail is $9.99.
Like I stated before he has written 13 and on his way to finishing the next one in the Reacher series
"61 Hours". The cover did not grab me this time, in fact I didn't care for it but the intro to the story did grab me and away we went! It is full of action from the get go, very fast paced and that's what I liked.
I have read books before and you wind up going, 'yeah, yeah get to the point' and I will scan/fast forward to get back into the action. NOT with this one! And what I like about it, although it is tough and 'gritty' , thereDue in part because of "The DaVinci Code" and the latest release "Lost Symbol", this book looked interesting. I also found this novel on the "featured book" table, and as usual, between the title and the cover I was hooked. Also, on the inside of the front and back cover was a map of Vatican City, made it easy to track the movements of the story. It begins with the passing of the Pope and then Cardinals begin to be murdered in a very methodical and gruesome way, in Rome, as the Church is calling for a conclave to appoint the new Pope. Another mystery...my kind of book!

He has been published in more than 35 countrie and lives with his wife and child in Spain. This is his first novel.
I liked this novel. The main characters, Inspector Paola Dicanti and Father Anthony Fowler,I am a very visual person, having said that, I will explain why I picked up this book. The cover. I look at book jackets and this one caught my eye. Charles Sutherland designed the cover and it is very rich in appearance. It was on a table of "featured books". Then I read the title and then the summary of the story, then a short intro of the authors(never heard of them)and decided to buy it and see what it held. This was in the front of the inside jacket, "A luxury oceanliner on its maiden voyage across the North Atlantic, awash in wealth and decandance...An ancient Tibetan box, its contents unknown, sealed with a terrifying warning...An FBI agent destined to confront what he fears the most---himself..." Aha, a mystery, right up my alley!
