Hello DACED friends,
Tomorrow is the last Weds. of the month, it is the day our club usually meets. But this month, we will not be having a regular general membership meeting at Martinez restaurant in Mesquite.

Instead, we'll be helping to celebrate the Grand opening of Robert Miklos's new campaign office and welcoming Special Guest, Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa.

You read right. Robert has a new campaign office and the Chair of the TDP will be on hand to help celebrate it's opening! This is a great opportunity for our members, which should not be missed.

Our next General membership meeting will be tomorrow. We'll be doing a recap of the State convention for everyone who was not able to attend. Covering most everything from caucuses to workshops to the election of our new State Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa.

I look forward to all of us sharing what we learned and experienced at the convention about the future direction our party here in Texas is headed in. The challenges we face such as voter turnout, raising money, growing our base, and recruiting qualified candidates. Our discussion should be very informative and inspiring, because I believe we can put into practice what we learned at the convention here in our small part of North Texas.
Since the last time we all met, we have lost one of our most active members. Mr. Carl Johnson died of a heart attack on May 31st Carl was a DCDP Precinct Chair, and a invaluable member of the DACED family. He was active in countless local, as well as statewide campaigns.

Our first DACED meeting of 2012 is this week, I hope to see many of you there as we greet Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez to our club.

We held our last regular membership meeting in November, and so much has happened since then. Not just the holidays, the changes of the seasons, and the birth of a New Year, But so much in our nation and our state. From the serious business of Redistricting here in Texas, to the ridiculous sideshow that is the race for the GOP Presidential nomination, we have so much to talk about. Times like these is when we really appreciate belonging to a group like ours so that we can talk about these topics before our heads blow-up from the pressure!

Now, let me move along and speak about a few things.

Season's Greetings DACED friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, or currently a great Hanukkak, as well as getting ready for Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's. It's so busy this time of year, and I just wanted to remind you there is one less item you don't have to worry about - - - there's no DACED meeting this month. We are not meeting next week. So, please don't show up. You may be the only one there ! The next general membership meeting will be on January 25th. our Speaker will be Sheriff Lupe Valdez.

Now, since I have your attention, let me catch you up on things since I last wrote to all of you.

At our November meeting, we held club elections. There was a couple of changes in the lineup, but overall your executive committee is still pretty much the same as last years'. For everyone who did not attend, the election results are as follows: President - Sergio Garcia, Vice President - Fernando Rojas, Treasurer - Margaret Hall, Correspondence Secretary - Shannon

We'll be holding our last meeting of 2011 today. We're meeting early in the month to avoid any conflict with the start of the holiday season.

We will be holding our yearly club elections, which we'll be taking nominations from the floor. We will also be accepting any proposals for amending our club bylaws.

I would like to mention a few things that has happened since we last convened on October.

On November 8th our state held a successful election. Texans voted on 10 proposed amendments to our state's constitution, on issues ranging from school funding to gubernatorial powers. Of the propositions voted on, #s 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10 were approved, while #s 4, 7, and 8 were defeated. Locally, the community of Sunnyvale approved a measure allowing retail beer & wine sales. Today we will be holding our general Membership meeting for the month of October. Our program will be a discussion on the Proposed Texas Constitutional Amendments, which an election will be held for on November 8.

It's been an active month since we last convened.

Let's start off with the biggest event that happened, on October 4th President Obama visited our community for the first time. He came and spoke to the students of Eastfield College about the work he has been doing for the people of our nation, and the importance of creating Jobs for everyone who wants one. Speaking about the need for Congress to pass the American Jobs Act and how he needs our help in getting that accomplished. Many of our friends and club members attended his speech and I hope those of you who did will share your experience with the rest of us.

Today we'll be holding our General membership meeting for the month of September. Our Speaker will be Hobie Hukill from MOVE ON. He should give us a good talk, and I look forward to hearing what he has to say.

Since our last meeting, we have lost one of our own. Ms. Charlotte Hayes went home to be with the Lord on September 9th, She was a great Democrat, longtime member of the DACED and a wonderful friend. She will be greatly missed.

At this year's DCDP Labor day picnic, our club participated once again in the yearly event. I want to thank everyone who came out and helped man our table and promote the club.

I would also like to give Congratulations to Fernando Rojas. Who, on Oct.15th, was elected the 1st President of of the new Mesquite Chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). This is a group I think that this part of Dallas County could really use. With so many important issues facing the Hispanic population here in the Dallas
