Hello! Thanks so much for hosting me here today! In honor of my book's title, Phoebe Pope and the Year of Four, I thought it would be fun to share four random facts about the story.

Fact 1:

The story takes place in a setting that's loosely based on my New England boarding school. I loved my high school campus! And I remember feeling that it had an element of mystery to it. That it held ancient secrets. I tapped into that feeling as I wrote about a supernatural school hidden beneath the grounds of a regular school. . . .

Fact 2:

I thought it would be entertaining to make my husband a character in the book - at least use his name. When I asked him what kind of character he wanted to be, he thought long and hard about it. He really took the "casting" opportunity seriously. After a day or so of thinking, he announced that he wanted to be the guy the other characters feared. The funny thing is that his name is Al. And the name Al does not make anyone tremble with fear. I

Debbie Dyke is a novelist and businesswoman from Alexandria, Virginia, and has a background in military intelligence, the stock market, executive recruiting and writing. An Army brat, she's lived in Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, Albania and Holland. She graduated from the American High School in Naples, Italy then attending University of Maryland, Munich Campus. She graduated from Georgetown University and holds a Bachelors of Science and Masters degree in National Security. Debbie has two grown children, Lisa and Jordan and has been married to Michael for over thirty wonderful years. Debbie has written 5 screenplays, one Wall Street calendar and two novels.

What is your favorite quality about yourself?

Happiness! I'm generally a happy person! I look at the bright side of life and always keep a good sense of humor about me. I expect a good outcome and believe that being positive has opened a lot of doors for me. I believe that anything is possible. My circumstances do not

Dr. Carolle was born and raised in Haiti to a family of healers, herbalists, midwives and shamans, and was educated in Haiti and the best universities in Mexico, Jamaica, and the US.

After completing her postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology in Wisconsin she settled in San Diego in 1982. She soon was regarded as one of the best ob-gyn around-tall and regal, a lone black female among the elite. But her success harbored a secret: when a patient entered her office, Dr. Carolle could quickly and intuitively see the root cause of her patient's illness, often times knowing she could help the patient without having to put her under the knife. She knew she dared not make these claims aloud. Struggling to fit in with the Western medical paradigm, her intuition and vision were best left unmentioned until she had no choice than to quit.

L. Blankenship is the alternate identity of a mild-mannered graphic designer. She started writing animal stories as a kid and it's just gotten completely out of hand since then. A few questions for Kate

Kate Carpenter is still quite young -- only sixteen -- but kids grow up quickly in fantasy kingdoms. As her author, I had some questions for her before she set out on this important mission.

L: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Kate: (she laughs) I wanted to be a better cook. My dear friend Alice has ever been a fine cook, and I've been jealous of that. Mother told me I need only attend to the task at hand, and I'd do well -- but it hasn't been so simple.

Vlad snuck The Tommyknockers by Stephen King out of the library on his sister's library card when he was eleven years old. Despite the nightmares, he'd stay up all night reading it, partly because he was discovering that there was pleasure in terror, and partly because he was too scared to go to bed before the sun came up. It took him all summer and some of the fall to finish it, but when he did, he immediately dug up another King book.
