    • Celebrate National Grapefruit Month with a Cocktail!

Diane Hoffmaster is a blogger who shares her thoughts with us at SheSpeaks

February was National Grapefruit month and I decided to head over to my local grocery store and pick up a bag full of this tart and tasty fruit to share with my family. My son has always loved grapefruit, even when he was a toddler. I thought this was a bit odd, seeing as it is really not considered a 'kid friendly' food but of course, this is the same child that loves hummus and asparagus so I shouldn't be surprised!

Grapefruit was first cultivated in Barbados in the 18th century but didn't become an agricultural success until the 1930's. Grapefruit comes in many varieties, including red, white and pink. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and studies have suggested that it may help lower cholesterol levels. It does have a tendency to interact with some medications so talk to your doctor before adding it into your diet if you take any prescription drugs.

Did you know that grapefruit got

    • Say it with a Card!

Rose Powell is a blogger who shares her thoughts with us at SheSpeaks

I love cards; I have a very large collection of cards. It's the first thing you look for when you receive a gift. It's the first part of the gift you open. It shares and expresses the givers heartfelt thoughts and feelings. The card in itself is A GIFT! In my opinion it's rather disappointing to not find a card attached. I still find sending and receiving cards in the mail very enjoyable. It's not something you encounter too often anymore since the creation of e-cards, but finding the perfect card has always been one of my favorite pastimes and really my niche.

I remember working at Hallmark when I was younger, being one of my favorite places to visit, I couldn't resist the opportunity to work there. I loved opening and looking through all of the new cards that came in, and strategically placing them on the shelves. I was always so excited and happy that I couldn't wait to go to work. I envisioned

Definition: It simply means do not worry and stress over the little things. Enjoy life to it's fullest and savor each and every day with an optimistic attitude and a smile on your face!

Each day the question remains from the previous day, why do I bother getting up when the glass is always half empty? Good morning not all, today is the day to do it and why? It is because February 11th was Don't Cry over Spilled Milk Day.

To start your day, take a long deep breath and hold it for ten seconds. As you feel the breath flowing through you, let go of the negative energy as you exhale. The lyrics from Creed's song Eyes Wide Open offer a thought of how to embrace the day.

      "With arms wide open
      Under the sunlight
      Welcome to this place
      I'll show you everything
      With arms wide open
      Now everything has changed
      I'll show you love
      I'll show you everything"

    • Geocaching ~ Get Outdoors as a Family

Amy Duran is a blogger who shares her thoughts with us at SheSpeaks

As a mom of four, I am constantly on the lookout for fun activities to do with the family. We tend to get stuck in a rut, doing the same things and going to the same places. So having the opportunity to find a new activity that would bring us new places and doing different things was what we needed. A few years back I tried desperately to find something along those lines. Soon I discovered the ideal activity - Geocaching. What in the world is that? Geocaching is like a treasure hunt using a gps. All over the world, just under your nose, there are small containers, called geocaches, hidden for others to find. Your aim is to locate these caches and sign the log. You then leave the container for the next person to find.

Geocaches are hidden all over the world. I guarantee you have walked past one and not known it. They can be as small as a pencil eraser or as large as an ammo can. They are hidden in parking

    • Mom's Day Off

Karen Weido is a blogger who shares her thoughts with us at SheSpeaks

I have been completely exhausted! Hubby and I have an almost-three year old daughter and I'm 30 weeks pregnant with our son. We both work full-time outside the home, and we work hard to make our home run smoothly. However (as I'm sure is true at your home) most of the domestic and childcare duties fall on mommy.

I leave the house, daughter in tow, at 7am each morning. We arrive home around 5:45p, which gives me just enough time to get supper started before hubby gets home around 6:30pm. I pick up the house and do some laundry while dinner is cooking. After dinner, the dishes have to be done, kid has to have a bath and ready for bed, and everything else that comes up.

$PullQuote$I'm sure you are just nodding your head in agreement here. It's no wonder mommy's are completely worn out all of the time.

With only nine more weeks until we add to the chaos at our house, I decided I needed a day off. A

    • Brad Pitt Serves Up a Soda Breakfast to His Brood

With a pair of globetrotting on-the-go parents like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt it's not surprising that they often have a hard time dragging the kids out of bed in the morning. Ranging in age from 3 to 10, the six mini-members of the Jolie-Pitt brood probably have to deal with jetlag more than most kids their age have to in a lifetime.

Though we don't live the lavish celebrity lifestyle, many of us can probably relate to the difficulties of waking sleepy children. But it's Pitt's recent confession of how he sometimes gets the kids going in the morning that has some eyebrows raised.

Pitt admitted on CBS's Sunday Morning that he has turned to an early am dose of soda to give the kids a little boost in the morning. He explains, "Listen, I admit there's times like, 'We gotta get up. Get up! Here's your shoes. Here's your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it! Just so we could get 'em up and going."

      For many

    • As the world still mourns singer Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson's untimely deaths, we receive the news that legendary pop and R&B singer Whitney Houston has also died.

Though Houston's cause of death is still unknown, there are reports that the singer may have been mixing Xanax with alcohol before stepping into a bath in her hotel room in Los Angeles on the eve of the Grammy's. Houston was as well known for her breathtaking voice as she was for her checkered past abusing drugs and alcohol.

Jackson, Whinehouse, and Houston were all known to have a history of drug addiction, abuse, and depression. With all of the fame and riches at their disposal it is hard for some to understand how these incredibly talented performers could lose their battle with addiction.

TMZ reports singer Tony Bennett's reaction to Houston's death and the solution (some may call unusual) that he offered up at a pre-Grammy's party. Bennett said, "First it was Michael Jackson, then Amy

    • How Long Should You Wait to Get Intimate After a Divorce?

We all handle divorce differently, some turn to family and friends as a support system while others need some time alone to think things through. Whether you're planning a divorce party or prefer to sign the final papers while holed up in your office afterhours, there will come a time when we have to ask ourselves if we are ready to enter the world of dating again.

There is no specific right or wrong time to get back in the game and a lot may depend on how you left your previous relationship with the ex. Jezebel recently reported about Courtney Cox's brave confession to Howard Stern that she has remained celibate for the past year after her separation from David Arquette. Cox explained simply, "I'm really not ready…I'm just not there."

Getting to that first intimate encounter after a divorce can take time and as sex expert Sari Locker, from Match.com, explains it is very important that you feel ready for this important step and adds, "There's no reason why you can't take

In this advancing age of technology it seems inevitable that teens must deal with the difficulties of break-ups and bullying via social media, that's why it's refreshing to hear about a site that is geared towards empowering young girls on the internet.

CNN reports about Sweety High, a new online community set up for young girls ranging in age from 8 to 16 as a way to showcase their arts and entertainment talents as well as connect with their peers in a positive way.

The site (part social gaming, part talent contest, along with aspects of sites like Facebook) encourages young girls to share their talents in a safe and positive way without all the harsh criticism they may find in other places. They can upload personal videos, artwork, photography, and writing to share with friends and get their opinions.

Co-founder of the site, Veronica Zelle, explains why she thinks the members of her site tend to offer more positive confidence-boosting feedback than they might in
