WWD/Steve EichnerDuring the past year or so, the tabloids have been dominated by one crazy story after the next about Amanda Bynes which is a shame since the former child star and comedianne is super talented. Maybe she'll channel some of the creativity she used in her old performances into the new clothing line she's working on. Yep, you read that correctly: Amanda is at work on a fashion line!

"My line will be a mixture of sick styles, and it's going to be for everybody," she told In Touch magazine. "I love Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's clothing line, Elizabeth and James, and I love how Justin Bieber dresses."

WWD/Steve EichnerGivenchy designer Riccardo Tisci was not only co-chair of the Met Gala, but he also dressed 13 women attending the event, including Beyonce, Madonna, Rooney Mara, Florence Welch, and Kim Kardashian. Kim's dress was intriguing, since it had matching gloves that were attached.
When I posted my best-dressed roundup, you said the skintight floral dress wasn't your favorite, but it turns out Tisci loved his maternity fashion moment.
"I have dressed many pregnant women in the past," he told WWD. "People can say what they want. To me, pregnancy is the most beautiful thing in the world, and when you celebrate something, you give people flowers. I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career."

I love Riccardo's take on dressing Kim. It's been disappointing to hear people criticizing her pregnancy weight gain, and so it's especially nice to hear him come out inThe Real Reason Prom Costs the Average Girl $1,139 (It's Not the Dress...)

WWD/Thomas Iannaccone It's that time of year when the fitting rooms at your local department store are full of girls trying on potential prom dresses. I don't know about you, but I have such wonderful memories of prom. I wore a vintage cream-color dress (with gloves--I know) and dark blue Stuart Weitzman shoes that I have to admit, I still pull out from time to time. The whole look cost around $400, and at the time I thought that was kind of extravagant, but it turns out I have nothing on the girls who are attending prom this year. A new survey from Visa found that on average, families will spend $1,139 on prom this year. This figure is up 40 percent from 2011, when they spent $807.

When I saw Visa's report, I figured that large increase in prom spending was probably tied to buying fancier dresses. It turns out the answer is more complicated than that. Katy Perry recently sang the praises of Spanx, reminding me that a.) Celebs really are just like us! and b.) the brand has more than a few famous fans. Wondering who else keeps svelte courtesy of the must-have shapewear?
1. Octavia Spencer She famously told Ellen DeGeneres she was "triple Spanx-ing" at the SAG Awards in 2011. "Ohhh, Ellen. Let me tell you, I could not party that night, because I was being pinched in places I didn't know it was possible," she said.
2. Adele The singer will see Octavia's triple-threat and raise her one: At the Grammy Awards in June, she told the New York Post, "I had three or four pairs of Spanx on that night but I loved it."
