Fact: 'Tis better to give than to receive.
Fact: Payless is making it really, really easy to do just that this season--even if you're so busy shopping, cooking, traveling, baking, entertaining, schlepping, and wrapping that you can barely get your own gift list checked off--with the Good Shoe Project.
Starting this week and continuing through February 2011, The Good Shoe Project gives shoppers a chance to purchase the Airwalk Hope shoe (above) for $19.99, and for each pair sold, the store will donate a pair to a child in need. Impoverished youth in Central America will benefit from your holiday donation thanks to a partnership with the humanitarian organization World Vision, and you'll get a cute and comfy pair of shoes for less than the price of a week's worth of lattes. The concept may look pretty familiar--TOMS shoes has been operating on what they call a "One for One" model for years, where they give away a pair for each one sold--but this

If anyone knows about the true meaning of the power pump, surely it's someone with the last name Trump. On the heels of the success of her eponymous jewelry collection, Ivanka Trump is expanding with a line of footwear--launching today--and chatted with us about raiding her fabulous mom's shoe closet and learning how to walk in high heels.
Ivanka Trump Footwear hits Nordstrom stores today, with prices starting at just $80 and the fancy-schmancy evening shoes topping out at $160. The blonde beauty and mogul-in-the-making decided to expand her empire because, as she puts it, "I love shoes!" We can't argue with logic like that. Check out what else Ivanka has to say about her new collection.
STF: What made you decide to branch out from jewelry to shoes?
IT: First and foremost, I love shoes. What woman doesn't?! But gorgeous shoes shouldn't have to cost $500 a pair. I work closely with the design team at Marc Fisher Footwear to create beautiful,

Ever look longingly at a hot pair of shoes or a to-die-for dress and wonder just how long it would take for you to save up for it? Wonder no more, dolls!
Consumerist has just discovered this handy (or perhaps utterly devastating) calculator called "Days to Pay," and its purpose is to figure out exactly how long, down to the minute, it will take you to earn whatever new purchase you have your eye on. Create a profile for yourself by inputing your salary, your expenses, and how many hours you typically work a week, and this thing will deliver an extreme reality check in the form of an exact number.
This Miu Miu handbag? It would take a woman who works 40 hours a week at $30,000 a year more than two full days of work to earn! Meredith morbidly pointed out that I'll have one foot in the grave by the time I score the Birkin bag, Chanel suit, and the rest of the items on the mile-long wish list I've been adding to since, oh, birth.
At first I found

Remember when we spotted Blake Lively and Karl Lagerfeld together in Paris over the summer, and guessed (nay, prayed!) that he might be filming a cameo on Gossip Girl? That little wish sadly never came true, but there may be an even better one being fulfilled in its place!
E! online has an exclusive report that says Blake is the new face of Chanel handbags! According to Marc Malkin, "The Gossip Girl beauty will star in a new ad campaign for Chanel. I'm told she was just in Paris shooting for the French fashion house's handbag collection. The ads should launch early next year, the source says."
Blake's been buddying up to Karl for a while now, from her front row appearance at the haute couture show to her many Chanel red carpet moments to their aforementioned meeting in Paris, so this one strikes us as kind of a no-brainer. Plus she's young, stunning, as fashion-forward as it gets, and about to be a major movie star (she's starring alongside Ryan

Here's a bit of style advice so genius, you may wonder how the heck you got along without it your entire life...
Lauren Hutton is teaming up with J. Crew this holiday season to style a few fabulous looks and impart some of the fashion wisdom she's picked up in her years as a supermodel and reigning style icon. While all of her advice is pretty genius ("You never want to look like you spent too much time getting dressed"), one piece really stayed with me. She tells J. Crew fans, "Get to know your proportions. One of the secrets to figuring out your proportions is to really listen when people pay you a compliment, especially if you're getting the same compliments over and over. If someone says something looks good on you, look in the mirror and take note. There's a reason."
So darn simple, right? And yet, so darn smart! I stopped to think about the last few compliments I'd gotten on my wardrobe, and almost all of them were about my legs. Textured

Maybe Diddy was jealous of Kanye West's A-list of guest stars on his new album (including Beyonce, Elton John, and Rihanna), because he enlisted his own version of a power crowd to appear on Last Train to Paris, his latest record being released on 12/14, and there are some serious fashion bigwigs in the mix. Yeah, we're talking Anna Wintour and Marc Jacobs here, dolls.
Vogue's own Andre Leon Talley was asked to participate in the making of Last Train to Paris, and he recently wrote about the experience on his blog: "During Fashion Week last year, he sent out the call via e-mail and voice mail to high-fashion friends to come to his studio to participate in the record...he's like great creative thinkers in music who love fashion; swooner Marvin Gaye in his duets with Tammi Terrell comes to mind-what sense of elegance, what Motown glamour...for my part, I recited words by James Baldwin, and Diddy respected it enough to leave it intact. Seeing that we're officially at the peak of the most dangerous and dreaded time of year for avid shoppers like me- the holidays, where every store seems like a minefield just waiting to obliterate my wallet- I thought it'd be a good time to turn a shopping expert for a few tips on making it to the homestretch. With both armfuls of presents and a wallet that still has some cash left in it (turns out it's actually possible).
Stylist-to-the-stars Phillip Bloch wrote the book on smart shopping. Not being literal here: He just came out with a tome titled The Shopping Diet, and it's a thorough, detailed, and totally realistic guide to reigning in your spending habits. Phillip's shop 'n' save plan of attack is two-fold (we told you he's the expert!). First, the big ideas:
Start planning early
We know, this seems like the most obvious one, but according to Phillip, it makes a world of difference. "I know, I sound like your grandmother or aunt saying this,

Justin Timberlake's clothing line William Rast is a lot of things: all-American, awesome, adored by celebs and editors alike. But a cheap, bargain-basement thrill? Not so much. So imagine how excited we were to hear back in July that William Rast would be collaborating with Target come December. Double that, and you'll understand how excited we are now that it actually is December.
The merch doesn't hit Target stores until December 19th, but the images are already up - and we're picking favorites:
I'm loving the olive green color of this jacket...

And these faux leather shorts, which at $39.99, mean I can try out the trend without feeling obsessively guilty.

And lastly, this tan jacket- I'm dying over the stitching on the shoulders and the rivets on the collar!

So if the oversize bows and cocktail dresses of the Lanvin for H&M line were a tad bit too girly for you, you might wanna put December 19th on your calendar. Like all
