Source: Why Eye Cream Isn't Just For Under Eyes Anymore
Walking down the beauty aisle, there is a cream for almost every body part: hands, neck, and derriere. But to cut down on clutter (and cost), make these area-specific products do double-duty. Take eye cream, for instance. Did you know you can use it on more than just under your eyes?
Lips: One common use for eye cream is to ward off the tiny lines that gather at the corner of lids. The same moisturizing ingredients can do wonders for creases around the lips. And for chapped lips in the Winter, you can dab on a bit of eye cream instead of lip balm as a primer. It will stop that bold lip color from bleeding into every crack and crease.
Hands: People say that your hands can reveal your age before your face. So why not combat the signs of aging with a little boosted treatment? Thick hand creams and typically more watery eye creams are on opposite ends of the consistency spectrum. But the wrinkle-fighting ingredients in under-eye

Add a little Winter sparkle to your nails with a festive snowflake accent nail. While you can deck out all 10 fingertips with glitter and white snowflake designs, I decided to go for a more simple nail art look that highlights one accent nail. I used the minty MAC Glamour Daze Nail Lacquer In the Limelight ($18) on all my nails except my ring finger, which I painted with L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Sparklicious ($6 at drugstores) as a glittering base. Once I applied two coats of both polishes, I used the Art Club Nail Art Duo Pen in White ($4) to hand-draw snowflake designs on my ring finger. I like the mint-colored polish for a Winter chill look, but you can use red or green for a more Christmas-inspired look and a cobalt blue for a more Hanukkah-inspired look.

If you want to step out of the ordinary for the holidays, look to Kelly Osbourne for inspiration. The star paired her lavender and silver hair with a pretty makeup look that featured peach lips, a hue that directly complemented her colored strands. While many of us are not as committed to silvery-purple hair like Kelly, you can play with a less permanent option, such as Splat Color Chalk in Violet Sky or Silver Moon ($6 each), to achieve the style. Yes, the chalking trend may be on its way out, but a subtle touch of it will read more convivial than kitschy.
Next, sweep your hair back into a low ponytail and bring the ends over one shoulder. Finish off your makeup with winged liquid liner, a little peach on your cheeks, and a pretty peach lipstick, such as MAC Cremesheen + Pearl Lipstick in Coral Bliss ($15). If you're playing with color, keep your outfit simple; Kelly opted for a fresh Winter white.

You have a tube of hand cream stashed away in your purse and perhaps in your car or at your desk, too. While it's great for adding moisture back to your palms, this versatile product also has other useful tricks that can help beautify in a pinch.
1. Take down frizz: Get those unruly strands or random flyaways in check. Rub a small dab between your palms and then lightly run through your strands to smooth and tame.
2. Groom curls: If your twists need some attention, break out the hand cream to hydrate and define your curls.
3. Cuticle treatment: Sure, you slather it all over your hands, but if you have dry, cracked cuticles, make sure to give each finger a little extra love around your nail beds.
4. Fight static: Are your clothes clinging to you in all the wrong places? Use hand cream in a pinch. To stop static, either rub hand cream sparsely on your palms, lightly smoothing over your clothes, or head to a discreet location and apply under

Sometimes natural hair can seem dull (even after conditioner, creams, and butters). From the start, tightly coiled hair has a harder time reflecting light. But if you want your curls to shine like Solange Knowles's, there are a few tricks to try for glistening (not greasy) curls.
Vinegar: One culprit for dull hair can be product buildup. If you primarily stick to conditioner washing and sulfate-free shampoo, styling remnants can still be weighing your hair down. Try a clarifying shampoo at least once a month. You can also add an apple cider vinegar rinse after every cleanse to get rid of the buildup and seal the cuticle.
Cool Water: Giving your head a shot of cold water after a deep conditioning treatment seals in moisture, which creates a smooth, glossy finish. When you cut down on frizz, you can increase the amount of shine.
Heat: Stretching hair with a blow dryer before styling helps add shine by creating more surface area for the light toThe Easy Way to Style Your Short Hair for the Holidays

Formal events for short hair can be an uphill battle. Since updos are out of the question, how do ladies who have committed to the crop pull off hair that's party-ready? The answer is actually much easier than you think. "Formal hair for women with short hair is all about texture," says celebrity stylist Mark Townsend, who has done hair for Christina Aguilera and Natalie Portman. "Go for a style that's a little bit more than your natural hairstyle."
Depending on how long your short style is, the type of texture you add will be different. For ultrashort pixie cuts (think Anne Hathaway), go for a smooth blowout with lots of shine. "Shorter textures look more formal when they're shiny and smooth," Townsend says. Spritz your strands with a thermal spray like Rusk Thermal Shine Spray ($16) before blowing it dry with a round brush. If you want to add a bit of texture, try working in Serge Normant's Meta Form Sculpting PomadeWhat We're Sweet On: A Softly Scented Powder

Dusting powders always seem so old-fashioned, but in my book, that's a good thing. Elegantly held in appealingly retro packaging, Lollia's Calm dusting powder ($28) is too pretty to be stashed away. A fluffy puff distributes the rice powder, adding fresh scents of hyacinth, iris, and vetiver. No shimmer, no glitter - just smoother, softly fragranced skin. It's perfect after moisturizing, before bed, or any other time when you want to feel like a lady.

At the LACMA Gala, the red carpet was filled with fancy fringe (and we're not just talking about the attire). Evan Rachel Wood, Salma Hayek, and Asia Chow were among the many who sported banged hairstyles. Get ideas for wearing your bangs proudly to your next formal affair:- If you're in the midst of growing out your bangs, choose Evan's parted style. It is the perfect choice when bangs have gotten too long to keep hair out of your eyes.
- Salma went for a more mussed updo, with long tendrils pulled out of her ballerina bun. Try this piecey look if the shorter hair around your face won't quite reach into a pinned-up style or high ponytail.
- For blunt bangs, go the retro route like Asia. Her straight-cropped fringe is reminiscent of Bettie Page or Louise Brooks and works well with cascading waves.
Insider Tip: No matter how you style your bangs, remember to apply hair spray to your comb or fingers first in order to avoid a face full of Read More »from 3 Ways to Style Your FringeWhy Strong Brows Are a Strong Beauty Statement

You don't have to wear bold colors to make a bold makeup statement. Ginnifer Goodwin looked striking with soft shades of pink paired with stunning arches at this weekend's LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala. The structured look complemented her sleek pixie and the embellished neckline of her black Gucci dress. She balanced her bold brows with flirty lashes and thin winged liner.
Looking to frame your eyes with full, well-groomed brows, too? Opt for a brow pencil like Kevyn Aucoin Beauty The Precision Brow Pencil ($24), which features a fine tip to fill in sparse areas or draw a natural looking shape (plus, the brush on the end allows you to groom every hair into place). To achieve more prominent brows, you can exaggerate the shape by slightly elongating the ends. The final touch: set your look with brow gel or wax for a polished finish.
