whiskey caramel bread puddingI'm the kind of girl who really digs her crock pot. I'm stretched just a little too thin in life to slow down enough to really enjoy cooking most dishes. But desserts I can usually get on board with. There's something about the singular focus that goes in to most desserts that I find kind of zen. And this recipe for White Chocolate Whiskey Bread Pudding that I stole from my Dad is just about the best thing you can put in your crock pot and forget about for a few hours. You ready to write this down so that your husband can make it for you on Mother's Day? Okay good.

BREAD PUDDING
2 cups heavy cream
1 1/4 cups white chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
2 eggs, beaten
3 egg yolks, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 loaf (1-pound) stale French bread

CARAMEL WHISKEY SAUCE
1/3 cup whiskey
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon corn syrup
1 3/4 cups heavy cream
6 tablespoons ( 3/4 stick) butter
1/4 teaspoon

Gender reveal parties are the new baby showers and if that's the route you're going then you're not alone. When the time comes for me to have some sort of shower for a new baby, I am not sure this is the route I will go. It's becoming quite popular these days. It's very similar to a baby shower, but instead, the guests (and sometimes the mom-to-be herself) are surprised with the reveal of the gender of their baby. You get to celebrate all the pink or blue that will be in your life if you're one who tends to stick to the gender norms and when you're doing a gender reveal that's kind of the point. guns for kidsThis week, I'm reeling over the terrible story out of Kentucky about a 5 year old boy who accidentaly shot and killed his 2 year old sister. The boy was playing with a child-sized hunting rifle he'd recently been given as a gift. His parents said they thought the gun was unloaded but, tragically, it was not.

I am utterly heartbroken for this family, especially the boy who will never get to live a normal life because he has to forever cope with the memory of killing his sister. That burden is simply unimaginable.

But looking beyond the horror of a child killed in such a way, I'm drawn to the fact that the boy had his own hunting rifle. Not a rifle meant for adults, either. This is a rifle scaled and marketed for children. I had no idea such a thing existed and, frankly, I find it very, very upsetting. I have a 5 year old and he is in no way ready to handle lethal weapons, even if he took one of the much touted safety classes the NRA and local gun ranges offer. Hell, he lacks the

Since Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, I was inspired and determined to search for weddings that celebrated not only love, but the Mexican culture. That's when I came across Luis and Lizeth's Cinco de Mayo wedding. Photographed by TheGoodness.com, I knew I had to share their wedding day with you. I am kind of obsessed with this wedding. I wish I would've thought of this! I think when it comes to planning the perfect day, we sometimes forget to add our personality and where we come from. This is something Luis and Lizeth did not forget. The Goodness designed their save the dates, invitations, programs and guestbook. The Loteria (Mexican Bingo) card idea is awesome! I'm kind of sad I don't know this couple and wasn't invited to this cool wedding.
