6 causes of hair loss in womenI was only a kid when my mom discovered a bald spot the size of quarter on the top her head. It was such a confusing moment; I thought only men lose their hair. Why would a woman in her mid-30′s start balding? Turns out it was only stress and she went to the doctor just in time. I didn't know then what I know now: hair loss in women is a lot more common than we think.
According to the American Hair Loss Association, women make up 40 percent of Americans who suffer hair loss. That's almost equal with men! Little do we know that it can happen at any age for a wide range of reasons.
WebMD states there are 100,000 to 150,000 hairs on the average adult's head, and that we can lose up to 100 of them a day. So, finding a few stray hairs on your hairbrush or pillow is no reason to freak out. You should contact your doctor if you notice large amounts of hair loss or excessive thinning.
Alopecia, the medical term for extreme or abnormal hair loss, comes in many forms. According to WebMD:

Grilled pork chops with blackberry sweet and sour sauceFire up the grill and get yourself a gorgeous set of pork chops. We've pulled together three fabulous tips that'll get you perfectly grilled chops: moist, tender meat with tons of flavor and a beautiful, seasonal sauce drizzled right on top. Check out these three tips for perfect pork chops, then get your grill on!Read More »from Hot Off the Grill! Make Pork Chops with Blackberry Sweet and Sour Sauce
1. Cook Slow
Cooking thick pork chops over low heat keeps them moist and tender! Turn your grill way down to keep your chops moist. Cook until the center of the chops reaches 145 degrees and you'll have perfectly cooked morsels of pork.
2. Preheat Perfection!
However, turn your grill to high before putting the pork chops on. Once you put the chops on the grill, close the lid and turn down to low. That way, you'll get gorgeous grill lines, but won't dry out your meat.
3. Rest Those Chops!
Remove pork chops from your grill, place on a plate, and and cover with foil. Allow your meat to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to keep the juices from running out.

weddingI did not have a typical wedding.
For one thing, my husband and I were both only 21 on the day we said "I do."
And for another, hiding under my empire-waist wedding gown was our daughter, five months old in-utero and just starting to make her presence known to me with some well-orchestrated butterfly kicks.
It's not the way I imagined my wedding day unfolding at all.
But I can honestly say that I have no regrets about my somewhat unconventional start into marriage.
I love being married. I love that I always have someone to share my day with, someone to cook with, and someone who, even after over five years of marriage, can still make my heart melt holding my hand while we take a simple walk after dinner.

Sure, we all know that pets can be helpful. Dogs can watch the house, cats can sit there and be...soft. But pets often "try" to pitch in with the chores too. Even the laziest dog will eat the crumbs off the floor, and most cats will at least attempt to catch mice. But much of what they do to help out has gone unnoticed - until now. This collection of pets doing their chores shows just how helpful our furry little friends can be with the housekeeping - well, sort of. I've even included some photos of my cat Leia, who is actually helpful, and my lazy cat Luke, who is helpful in the sense that so far he hasn't succeeded in causing my death by tripping me. Are you having trouble getting pregnant? Do you have an onset of adult acne? Is your hair starting to fall out? Then you might just have some other signs of PCOS, too.
Polycystic (pah-lee-SIS-tik) ovary syndrome, commonly known as PCOS, affects as many as 5 million women in the United States. It is the result of a hormonal imbalance whereby the ovaries make more androgens than normal. Androgens are male hormones that females also make, and having higher than normal levels of these hormones affects the development and release of eggs during ovulation. In women with PCOS, mature eggs are not released from the ovaries, and instead become very small cysts inside the ovary.
I have PCOS. It was not until I had issues with infertility that it was discovered, but looking back the diagnosis makes a lot of sense. (That is a sentiment I have heard from several women who have it as well.) PCOS is actually the most common cause of female infertility. Since then I have come to know my own symptomsRead More »from A Pregnant Pause: 8 Things Every Woman Should Know About PCOS

I recently went to Paris with my mom and sister for 4 days (with a day of travel on each end) and I almost bought a weekender bag before I left. As I was cramming six days worth of outfits into the only (tiny!) bag I own that qualifies as a carry-on, I had myself a good kicking over the fact that I walked away from that weekender! They're super handy for shorter trips (or longer, if you're a ninja packer!) and often fit in the overhead compartment. Perfect! Here are 8 stylish weekender bag options that will take you to the beach, the mountains, or anywhere else you want to go:

A woman at the front desk of the Ships of the Sea Museum in Savannah, Georgia, told Dr. Ken Haas that his daughter, Lexi, wouldn't be allowed to use her wheelchair inside the museum because, I kid you not, it might get the carpets dirty. Dr. Haas pointed out that the wheels of Lexi's chair couldn't be any dirtier than his own shoes, but still no dice. The family was offered a wheelchair the museum owns, which presumably has wheels you can eat off of or something.
Like many people who use wheelchairs, Lexi's was selected to accommodate her specific size and needs. It's not like wheelchairs are just interchangeable. Lexi has Kernicterus (also called Bilirubin Encephalopathy), a rare brain dysfunction that can be caused by a toxic build-up of bilirubin in the blood in infancy. The bilirubin, orRead More »from Disabled Girl Turned Away from Museum Because Her Wheelchair Might Get the Carpets Dirty

When I was little, I wanted a big dog. In fact, I wanted a huge dog; my heart was set on either a St. Bernard or a Great Dane. I have a fond affection for big dogs - they are incredibly beautiful and larger than life pets. Living with a big dog is almost like living with another person; they take up most of the bed or couch, are stronger and faster than us, and in all likelihood eat more than we do. Every now and then I like to browse photos of big dogs... and by the way, I still do want a Great Dane! Check out 7 ways that big dogs are just awesome! - By Danielle Sullivan
