5 ways to stay organized when you hate making listsTo do lists can be ridiculously satisfying to write. However, they're not so much fun to follow through with - especially during a busy work week like the one I just had. If you're like me, you may have started your weekend routines before you made the list and then, halfway through, decided to make one that included all of the things you've already gotten done. That's not cheating. That's just feeling better about yourself since you actually did accomplish something.
Routines help me when I am not in the mood for a list. For instance, every Saturday I clean the stove in the kitchen. We try mightily to get the dishes done right after we're done eating, but we have been known to go a few days when everyone is busy and not eating a dinnertime meal together with a few dirty dishes piling up on the countertop. Even when that happens, by Saturday morning I'm ready to get going on projects and housekeeping. I know that this particular routine will do just enough to get me in the mood to get

How to help your boys succeed in schoolI keep hearing that boys are failing at school, that they are problem students, that they are falling behind. I don't know if this is true -- I only have sons, so I can't compare what today's schools are like for girls -- but I do know that my boys learn differently from the ways I liked to learn when I was little. (And yes, a girl.)
So as my children enter school, I've become more and more interested in the research and tips that focus on the learning styles of boys. I don't subscribe to the belief that all boys who are good at specific things are bad at others just because they're boys -- I personally don't limit my potential because of my gender and I will never do that to my sons. But I do notice certain differences and choose to celebrate them.

In my research I've found useful tips on how to capitalize on the differences, and I'm making more of an effort to try them now that we are starting a brand-new school year.
1.Though we often spend much of our time complaining about pets (really? another hairball?) there are a lot of ways that animals can add to our lives.
