Do you ever have one of those weeks? Y'know, where things just don't quite work out how you'd planned? When you get the blues, who do you turn to? Maybe like me, you turn to the nearest cake aisle of your local supermarket, followed by immediate tea and sympathy with your closest friend. For me, there is nothing better than a chin wag with a buddy to get a little perspective and see some light at the end of the tunnel. In my life, dates came and went, but I always made sure I put energy into my friendships. Even through all my years as a married woman and subsequently juggling two jobs and two kids, I still make time for my mates - even if it's just a quick Skype chat. There are things I get from them that I don't from my husband: he would never appreciate a fine shoe like they would, or gossip about other folk, or recommend a great facial scrub! On a less superficial level, they help dissect problems in a deeper way, or share more emotionally at times then he does. They also bring funRead More »from Bosom Buddies: 7 of the Best On-Screen Female Friendships in Movie History

I am not really one to get photos done of those important milestones so many others do. No engagement photos, no professional wedding photos, no maternity photos and I don't see that philosophy for me changing. I do recognize it's a common practice for so many people and there are some majorly talented photographers who can give you the most amazing images. Getting photos done for your engagement can be a fun, memorable time with great images. If you're planning yours, here are some tips on what not to do, and some ridiculous photos to go with them. Going to the hair salon each time you have a wedding invitation or a special occasion is not always the easiest on the wallet. This summer I was invited to my friend's wedding and decided to do my own hair. I'll start off by saying I'm no hair guru; in fact, I'm really bad at doing my own hair. But this hairstyle is so easy, anyone can recreate it at home. I was inspired by an updo I spotted on Jessica Alba. I love that this look is elegant and chic and can even be worn to the most elegant of events. Best of all, it only requires a few simple items you already have and just a few minutes. ,6:30 am - My iPhone starts screaming in my ear. For once I'm not short on sleep though. Since my job often requires me waking up around 5 am, 6:30 has become my new "sleeping in." I get ready, put on my business casual for work, then my favorite part of morning prep: I put on my Disneyland Resort name tag.
I'm a fresh Disneyland Resort CM (Cast Member), participating in the Disney College Program, an internship opportunity offered at the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort. You'd be surprised how many misconceptions there are about working at the Resort; the most common FAQs are if I'm Mickey Mouse (which I'm not, there's only one Mickey Mouse, and that's the real one!) and if I ride rides all day. No.Read More »from Behind the Scenes at Disneyland: A Day in the Life of a Cast Member
To show just what the Cast Member lifestyle is like, I decided to make a timeline of one day, (last Wednesday,) to show my typically atypical schedule here at the Resort. People want to know - do I get to go to the secret hang outs - the exclusive bars and restaurants

There have definitely been times when I've needed to tell my cats I'm sorry. They have caught me at bad moments when I've been crazy stressed out, or when I am not feeling like anything going right - and, sometimes, they catch the brunt of it. All they want to do is cuddle and help me feel better (because that's how loving cats are!), but I delay and get angry when all they want to do is snuggle up beside me. It's not fair, and while it doesn't happen often, that's where the sorry comes into play. If you've had a bad day and take it out on your cat, let them down by forgetting something, or perhaps take a light-hearted joke a little too far, don't make an even bigger mistake and forget to say you're sorry. Vegan cupcakesWhen my daughter became a vegan, just about a year ago, my first thoughts were: Cookies. Cupcakes. Frosting. As in, how was she going to get her "sugar fix"? Especially one that I often was in charge of providing? Overall, her diet is a good one - moderate portions and well-rounded. And since becoming a vegan her eating habits have improved even more. I must say I'm very impressed with, and proud of, her commitment to what can often be a very challenging diet.Read More »from Short and Sweet: The Best Vegan Vanilla Cupcake Recipe — Ever
But the girl does love her dessert. And the limitations imposed by a vegan lifestyle - especially when it comes to baked goods - are pretty severe. Think about it - no butter. No milk. No eggs. So she's done her homework and scoured the market - both on-line and at local grocery stores - to find enough prepared goodies to satisfy her sweet tooth. There are even a few bakeries that are "vegan only" - and quite good (I'm the official "sampler").
However, I was determined to re-create some of her very favorite treats, as one of my
One of my fondest memories growing up was sitting in the playroom of my childhood home with my sister, baking up anything we could have possibly imagined with our Easy-Bake Oven. It was this pop culture phenomenon that let kids step away from their mother's kitchen and into their own. It's a toy that meant so much to me when I was a little girl, that I couldn't wait to have my own children just so I could recreate many of those same treats with them. Now that my girls are getting older, I think this might be the year that we get a new Easy-Bake Oven and start creating our own memories together. The popular product was introduced in 1963 and celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The Easy-Bake Oven has evolved so much over the years, both in its physical appearance and its technology. Take a walk down memory lane and check out the Easy-Bake Oven from the very beginning to the newest version being introduced this year. -By Lauren JimesonRead More »from The 50-Year Evolution of the Easy-Bake Oven

,On October 18th the remake of the classic horror film, Carrie, will be released. The film is based on the Stephen King novel about a girl who suddenly discovers she has telekinetic powers after being bullied by girls in school. The original 1976 film starred a young Sissy Spacek in the lead role and launched her career.
The remake, directed by Kimberly Pierce of Boys Don't Cry fame, stars Chloë Grace Moretz, a young actress who launched into fame after her very first role, which was in the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror. In an interview with W Magazine, Chloë talks about her audition for The Amityville Horror when she was 6 years old. "I did about four or five auditions and had to cry at every single one. When you're that young, it's a huge feat to be able to cry, so I did the same crying scene over and over to prove that I could, and that I wasn't making myself crazy doing it."
