New York City's newest flea market has been quite the hit in Brooklyn with around 150 clothing, furniture, and food vendors coming every Sunday to sell their wares. Since Brooklyn Flea is only open through December (two more months!!), we thought we'd share some of our favorite photos from this great new antiquing hot spot. If you live in the area, be sure to check it out before it's too cold!Read More »from Sunday at the Brooklyn Flea Market
Two of our editors - Monica Michael Willis and Rebecca Thienes look through a selection of retro fabrics. Rebecca was impressed with the selection:
Paint your way to vintage cachet. Rescue an old dresser and adorn it in silky color, then select paint in a shade that's as refined -- or playful -- as you'd like your home to feel.Read More »from Dress Up a Dresser
Depending on the dresser's shape, and the colors and hardware you choose, it can look elegant and formal, romantic and vintage, or sweet with cottage style. Visit tag sales, junk stores, and unpainted-furniture shops, with an eye to pieces with nice lines. Even the most chipped dresser with missing knobs may be a boutique treasure waiting to happen. As you browse, think a bit beyond a dresser's traditional role. Consider using a wider, lower dresser as a serving board in a dining room, and a higher, slim one for additional linen storage in a hallway. (What a perfect way to create storage with style!)
While on the hunt, look for sturdy dressers with good lines. "Plain painted surfaces and unfinished wood are the easiest to work with," advises stylist Christina Lane, who found this dresser on Route 20 on her

To craft the storage boxes shown here, you will need a sturdy box with lid, patterned fabric, and spray adhesive or fabric glue. Fabric is easier to use than paper, as it is pliable and fits into corners more neatly than stiff paper. It also needs to be thick enough to disguise the original box, but not so thick as to make a lumpy finish.

3. Fold fabric into corners again to determine fit; trim if necessary.
4. Fold the corners over at 45 degrees and press; unfold.
5. Cut the corner diagonally along the crease.
6. Lightly apply glue to the inside of the

Question: I am having someone make me natural maple wood radiator covers. I have been looking for the grating/grillwork that goes in the middle to allow the hot air to get out. The only ones I have found to date are the cheap-looking sheets that are sold at Home Depot or Lowe's. Can you point me to a Web page or somewhere else I can check to find something that looks nicer? Thanks. -- Julie S.
Answer: There are a number of companies that specialize in custom-made radiator covers, in both wood and metal, with the grills already installed; these come with pre-painted or pre-stained options. A company that I have had good luck with in the past for my own use is Monarch Custom Radiator Enclosures (www.monarchrad.com or call (201) 507-5551). It carries about a dozen styles, from basic grill work designs to enclosures that incorporate bookcases. The covers are made of steel (which is more efficient for heat transfer) and come in many different colors. You might want to consider using a
