My husband and I just celebrated our twentieth wedding anniversary. I think it's a miracle, when you consider that four years ago I left him and was utterly sure that we would divorce. Not only did we not divorce, but we ended up creating a new relationship that has been much better than the old one ever was.

While we were on vacation celebrating this momentus occasion, a number of people asked how we did it. After a little reflection, here's what I think are the seven secrets to making it work in the long haul.
