Most people believe they are better than others. It's actually quite average to think so! Mild to moderate amounts of narcissism are good for self-preservation and help us not crumble in the face in criticism, but a few people take it to new levels.
If you know an all-out narcissist, you probably know about narcissistic rage. They unleash it freely and frequently whenever they feel criticized or threatened, which is pretty much all the time. Their low levels of empathy, sense of entitlement, and delusional self-image make them prone to aggression and revenge, and those closest to them feel their wrath the most.
Now a study has found that nobody suffers more from a male narcissist's anger than the straight women in his life - most likely a girlfriend or wife. A psychologist behind the research at Kent State University says heterosexual women, more than straight or gay men or lesbian women, are the prime target for rage. They're the ones who can provide, and deny, pleasure from sex and

Last night on the season four premiere of Mad Men, Peggy and Mark, her junior-level helper who looks like he was sent from 1997, cooed "Johhn" and "Marrr-sha" mock-seductively to each other. I knew it was a reference, but to what?
The 1951 album John and Marsha. It was recorded by comedian Stan Freberg to parody soap opera dialog by only using two words - "John" and "Marsha." He later became an ad man himself when he introduced satire to advertising. It revolutionized the staid business - remember Don saying "there has to be advertising for people who don't have a sense of humor"? - and earned himself the unofficial title of "father of comedic advertising."
The fact that two culture-savvy New Yorkers were referencing it 13 years later shows just how successful and long-lasting its reach was. In fact, it was still being referenced in the early '70s when Jan Brady famously whined "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha." In the recording, what at first sounds like last night's banter slowly becomes

Reality star Kourtney Kardashian is defending her boyfriend Scott Disick again, and it has nothing to do with his decision to wear pink pants. Kourtney calls the father of her baby "very loving and sensitive," which might come as a surprise to TV audiences who often see him acting immature and drunk.
On last night's episode of Kourtney & Khloe, Kourtney added to her family's concerns by complaining that Scott stays out until 5 a.m. even though he has a newborn. But the oldest Kardashian sister said yesterday that Scott is a great father: "I love watching him with Mason. He makes him crack up so hard. He makes him laugh. It's fun to see them together." It's clear that despite Scott's apparent issues, she's not ready to move on.
Have you ever had to defend your partner when it seemed like everyone else was telling you he was wrong for you? Take our poll here.

The average teenage girl loses her virginity at 17.3 (17.0 for boys) in the United States, but the age at which it becomes a stigma can vary among subcultures, religions, and even schools.
Tina Fey famously held onto her virginity until she was 24, but one woman wrote about waiting until 32 in the Guardian Friday. And not because of religion!
Reasons ranged from fear it would hurt, anxiety about pregnancy and STDs, and a five-year illness until the reason was simply virginity itself. Why give it up if you've waited so long? Plus, sometimes the fear of revealing virginity after a certain age becomes a fear itself.
Most people have an age they don't want to reach and still be a virgin - what was, or is, yours?

Rentafriend is a poorly done website with a dream: rent out "friends" for $10 an hour. Maybe it's more companionship than friendship, but it's paid-for company and it's friendly.
Not that friendly though. Rentafriend insists it's not a dating site or escort service. In fact, anyone caught seeking more is removed from the site. Despite its scrupulous ethics, this Japanese-born idea may not take flight in the US and UK. A writer at the Guardian rented his very own friend for an afternoon. Only he quickly learned the 27-year-old actor was a paid-friend virgin. It's hardly surprising, though, when you consider this discrepancy: 200,000 people are signed up to be rental friends, while only 2,000 are registered friend seekers.
Could anything be more awkward? At least if you pay for sex, you don't have to figure out what you're going to do!

Well Said: Cameron Diaz Doesn't8 Myths About Love Romantic Comedies Perpetuate
By TresSugar | Work + Money – Thu, Jul 22, 2010 7:50 PM EDT
We know romantic comedies send unrealistic messages about relationships, but now we're hearing they contribute to relationship problems. A survey of 1,000 adults in Australia found nearly half said rom-coms are ruining their views of an ideal relationship. Maybe you've heard "if it was right, it'd just work," but that says more about Hollywood plots than real-life romance. So what myths do we have to watch out for? Here's eight to start.
- You just know he's the one - and you're right: We've probably all felt this at some point, and most of us have been proven wrong.
- Change yourself, and he'll fall head over heels: How often has the bland girl put on a dress and makeup only to dazzle the guy who didn't know her name 30 minutes ago. It's only like the entire plot of Cinderella!
- Sex solves problems: Unless the problem is he'd like to have sex right now, then all it will provide is distraction.
- Playing hard to get works: In reality, acting disinterested makes him think you're
When I asked you guys what's the best part of having girlfriends, you all reminded me why I love mine so much. Check out your sweetest answers.

- To me the best is always having people to celebrate happy times with, like birthdays. - ladylove004
- Most of my guy friends when they hear I have a problem try to solve the problem for me. They are more "lets take action" instead of just sitting and listening to me. While I do appreciate them wanting to solve my problems for me sometimes it's nice to just have someone listen. - Snookyx
- We're always there for each other as shoulders to cry on or there for each other when all we need is a really good belly laugh. - postmodernsleaze
- I like the notion that there is no possibility that the friend would want more than friendship (given that the girlfriend is a straight female). Over the years, I had friendships with men that went awry because they wanted more than friendship from me (they wanted romance). - GlowingMoon

When it comes to losing our virginity, men and women are not that different. Whether one waits emphatically, completes it like homework, or revels in its loss has little to do with gender.
Instead it depends on which of the following three categories - outlined in Virginity Lost: An Intimate Portrait of our First Sexual Experiences - you fall into. "Gifters" hold virginity up on a pedestal, believing it's something precious to be saved, and the "stigmatized" see it as a burden, something that's to be crossed off life's checklist. "Processors" probably have the healthiest attitude: they see first-time sex as something to be experienced - one of many experiences to come.
Writer Kate Monro has been documenting virginity-lost stories for nearly a year on her site The Virginity Project. From the mundane to the unbelievable, she collects every story she hears.
Ready to tell yours? We've asked where you lost your virginity and who you lost it to, but never for the full story. Remember you
