More from The Stir: Banning Milk From School Lunches Will Do More Harm Than Good

Our CafeMom members share their deepest ...and funniest....secrets on the CafeMom Studios series Coffee Shop Confessions. This time, our panel takes on a confession from a mom who found herself out of milk when it was time to make macaroni and cheese for her kids. So she found a workaround only a mom would think up. You won't believe what she did....check out the video below to see what it was.

You might have done it....I probably would if I still had any handy. And no wonder her kids loved it! I wouldn't like it if my friend did it to my mac and cheese, but keeping it in the family is just fine.

Something like ... the best way to tuck jeans when you're wearing flats or the best way to roll denim.

    • 7 Facebook Updates that Are Bumming Us Out, Man

skinny girlskinny girlA friend of mine posted on Facebook: "Being friends with someone on Facebook and complaining about what they post about is like phoning someone to tell them you don't want to talk to them." Which is prescient because I'm about to complain about what people post on Facebook. I do agree with my friend -- people have every right to post what they like. But let's put it this way: Your posts are bumming me out, man.

Sometimes I like your posts. But sometimes ... how do I say this? ... they ruin my freaking day. There's that post that makes me want to bang my head against the wall and wail, "What's the point of it all?!" while shoving a fistful of Paxil into my mouth.

    • tricorder glovetricorder gloveThere are some crazy pieces of technology out there in the medical field, and this? This is no exception. This weird robo-glove called the Tricorder is the second prototype of the Med Sensation breast exam glove. This glove, which was developed by medical students at Singularity University, is rife with sensors, which are intended to give doctors remarkable feedback while performing breast exams on patients. The glove could theoretically also help diagnose problems like enlarged kidneys and other issues that lie beneath the skin.

Supposedly, the third version of the glove will come with micro-ultrasounds on the glove fingertips, and will allow the information derived from the "glove-guided" exam to be wirelessly transmitted to an outside device. According to

    • School Giving Condoms to 12-Year-Olds is on Board with Abstinence Too

condomscondomsCould we finally have a happy middle ground for the parents who believe in sex education for teenagers and the parents who don't to meet on? A Massachusetts high school thinks they've got the key. They want to hand out condoms to kids as young as 12. But wait! There's more!

More from The Stir: School Forces Students to Take Pregnancy Tests

Parents of students in Springfield will get a letter allowing them to opt out of the program. And just in case the letters don't make it home, the school will be calling Moms and Dads too.

I think we have a winner here, folks!

I'm all about letting parents go their own way and make choices for their kids. But the easy go with the flow train goes off the rails choices start to infringe on my right to make choices for my kid.

Unfortunately, in many school districts in America, that's exactly what has happened. The studies show access to birth control doesn't increase sexual activities, it just makes it safer, but too many

    • A Single Girl’s Open Letter to All Future Mr. Wrongs

I don't think I ask for too much in a significant other. I'd say I'm pretty average when it comes to what I'd like to see in the opposite sex ... hilarious, successful, sweet, frequently does yard work with his shirt off, same old. But what I don't want ... well, that's a different story. Unfortunately, a lot of that story comes from personal experiences -- and some have made me seriously revise my checklist of what I look for in a guy. So I've decided to write an open letter to all the men who will eventually cross my path. Here it goes ...

      Hey Future Date,

First of all, I'd like to say good luck. Dating me is no easy feat. In fact, a former beau once compared my complexity to a Rubik's cube, so you're in for a real treat. But this isn't about me, it's about you. And since this is just round one, let's start off with a few basic ground rules ...

    • I'd Buy My Son a Barbie Doll, but He's Man Enough Not to Want One

Barbie cat fightBarbie cat fightI'm a sucker for a good monkey story. And when that story involves a study between children's toy preferences and gender, well, just call me hooked.

More from The Stir: No Son of Mine Is Wearing a Dress to School

A recent Huffington Post article revealed that in various experiments, male adolescent monkeys chose to play with wheeled vehicle toys, while females liked the dolls. It was a study that actually suggested a biological explanation for why girls like dolls and boys like trucks. Now I don't know about you, but I haven't seen too many HDTVs in the jungle airing Barbie or G.I. Joe commercials. So I kind of have to agree with the study.

Are humans already wired to like gender-specific toys? Well, it's no silver bullet, but I pretty much agree with the monkeys. My sons have never really liked girl toys. I never flat out told them they can't play with Barbie dolls, they just never had the desire.

Does that mean boys will never play with dolls? Or girls will never

    • 5 Kinds of Restaurants You Definitely Don't Want to Eat in on a First Date

Ah, first dates. The excitement and the hope. The terror and the tragedy! Ha, just kidding. First dates rock, don't they? Yeah, right. Let's face it, they're nerve-wracking, and if they don't go well, they can have you fleeing the scene prematurely, vowing to enter a convent. That's why it's important to keep some first date rules in place: Don't get too wrapped up in their outcome. Keep them light and breezy. And, of course, if your first date will be over some nosh, pick a restaurant that's less likely to send the date cartwheeling into a frenzy of crashed expectations, post-traumatic relationship flashbacks, and refried bean breath.

    • 10 'Sugar & Spice' Wedding Desserts for a Sweet & Sassy Ending (PHOTOS)

bride and groom toppersbride and groom toppersSometimes it's rough being a foodie. There are certain, super-hyped dishes I have such high expectations for that they consistently disappoint. For instance, I feel like I've had yet to taste the ultimate penne vodka, mac 'n' cheese, Buffalo wings ... Funny enough, I feel the same way about wedding cake. Maybe it's just not all it's cracked up to be? Maybe that's why some brides are trading their cake for other desserts (like my friend who is a pastry chef and served homemade pies and adorable, decadent cupcakes in mason jars)?

I love the idea of a wedding cake too much to do that, though. What's more, because I'm much more into sweets than savory dishes, I've even recently begun thinking of tweaking our budget to include additional desserts. So, in honor of brides like me who care more about the wedding treats than the wedding dinner, here are some awesome new wedding dessert ideas to

    • Noisy Restaurants Are 21st Century Torture Chambers

dinnerdinnerI'm not even that old and I'm sensitive to loud restaurants. In fact, I'm supposedly pretty hip (well la di da) and still I cannot stand a place that has loud music. There's no more odious phrase than "what? what? huh?" heard over and over again, and when I'm trying to tell my dinner companion about how utterly insane Teresa Giudice has become, I don't want to have to repeat myself three times just to be heard over the din of some alt-pop song, clanking plates, and everyone else's raised voices. Make it stop already. I said MAKE IT STOP ALREADY!

Chefs are getting just as pissed about the loudness as I am, and there have been a few recent exposes about the decibel levels in some big city restaurants. One brave reporter actually took one of those fancy loudness measurers into eateries and found that some places have a dangerous level of noise.
