The Sweet Life, a new e-serial that imagines the Sweet Valley High twins at 30.Vampires and post-apocalyptic gladiators are the new teenagers of young adult fiction. But in the '70s and '80s the original heroes were just regular kids with hormonal drama. Weren't we all?

We survived childhood and pubescence, with a little help from writers like Francine Pascal, Judy Blume and Lois Duncan. So how would their characters fare as adults?

In The Sweet Life, a brand new continuation of the Sweet Valley High series, Elizabeth and Jessica are all grown up. The "e-serial," released episodically each Sunday from July 15 through August 12, re-imagines the Wakefield sisters as mothers and career-women. Don't worry, they've still got plenty of high school drama.

"They are 30 now, they look different and their experiences have been broadened but inside their heads there's still those 16 year old girls," Francine Pascal, creator and author of the Sweet Valley High franchise, as well as the latest series, tells Yahoo! Shine.

    • Daniel Tosh Rape Humor: 9 Funny Women Who DON'T Defend Comic

Comedian Daniel Tosh (Getty Images)Comedian Daniel Tosh (Getty Images)Over the past 48 hours, a lot of famous comedians have defended Daniel Tosh's rape comments. Louis CK, Jim Norton, Patton Oswalt, Dane Cook to name a few. If you're just catching up with the controversy, here's a brief recap: Tosh, of Comedy Central's Tosh O., was called out by a female audience member at a live show for making a lame joke about rape. In response to his female heckler he stopped his performance to say, " "Wouldn't it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her…"

The woman, who recounted the unnerving experience on her blog, immediately left the show frightened. Tosh, whose fan-base is largely teenage boys, later apologized, kind of. Then came a stream of Twitter reactions, some outraged (
a petition with over 20,000 signatures to cancel Tosh O. has been making rounds) others disturbing supportive (from a few young male fans: "I didn't think daniel tosh was funny till he made fun of rape" and

Alice Van Ness/ABC NewsEver had your phone ring in a yoga class? It's like you just entered the prom naked. In a world wired for constant communication, yoga class is one of the last places where pings, rings, and vibrations are grounds for reproach.

"It's about respect for instructor, and those in class," yoga teacher Alice Van Ness explained to ABC News.

Up until a few weeks ago, Van Ness taught yoga to Facebook employees at the company's Bay Area campus. But an etiquette conflict between the ancient practice and the modern world changed all that, she said.

      Amazing photos of yoga poses

It began when a student (and Facebook employee) began texting during class. Total downward don't.

Van Ness claimed she gave a "disapproving look," elsewhere described as a "stink-eye." When the unidentified employee left class to finish her text and later complained about the bad vibes coming from the teacher, Karma was a b----.

Van Ness says she was fired by Plus One Health Management, the parent company that operates

    • Honeymoon Photos of Kate Middleton and Prince William Stir Controversy

Will and Kate's private honeymoon pictures published in Australian tabloid Woman's Day cause a stir.

Will and Kate's private honeymoon pictures published in Australian tabloid Woman's Day cause a stir. Fourteen months after Prince William and Kate Middleton's honeymoon, photos of their romantic vacation have been made public. But not everyone is enjoying the memories, least of all the royal couple.

Private moments from the couple's jaunt in Seychelles' luxurious North Island last May are splashed throughout the pages of Woman's Day, an Australian tabloid, and spreading like wildfire on the internet.

For the palace, it's a symbol of broken trust, and a media betrayal that resonates in the royal family's tragic history.

But for one anonymous photographer staked out during their May escape, it could have meant a major payday.

"Any shot of them on their honeymoon was going to go for at least half a million but because Kate is in a bikini I would estimate that this is a million dollar shot," celebrity business journalist Jo Piazza, tells Yahoo! Shine.

    • The Most Sexy-Stylish Rock Covers of All Time

What are your most crush-worthy LP covers?

Welcome to the most controversial post ever written (in the past hour). In honor of international record store day on Saturday, I have collected the sexiest album covers on the planet. Since my taste is based on childhood ostracism and one too many cats, you may be keen to disagree. Feel free to dispute and share your own favorites. Only three rules: no albums after the mid-80s, since most of us had switched to mix tapes by then. Please justify your reasoning. And while back covers and inside album artwork are acceptable, they should be included sparingly.

Without further ado, 13 LPs that make me weak in the knees and three that make me wan't to gouge out my eyes...

How do you know when you're turning into your mother? When you fantasize about the same people she did, in 1981. Jackson Browne is one of a handful of singer/songwriters I used to block out with a Walkman as a kid in the backseat of my parents car. Now in his 60's he's back on tour this summer and all I can think of how to get backstage. I came around to 70's emo singers a few years back--thanks to the delicate confluence of insomnia, heartbreak and a particularly moving Time/Life collection infomercial. But only recently, have I embraced the fact that I want to harvest their children, the old-fashioned way.

I don't care that they sing about making slow and steady love, that their music makes mom's do the Bar Mitzvah dance, that their song titles are projected in commercials in front of the same footage used in adds for Mt. Airy Lodge. There's just something about a sensitive '70's singer-songwriter who's not afraid to cheapen his music by showing a little chest hair on his

    • Today is National No Bra Day. But Why?

Today is National No Bra Day. I found this out, as many have, thanks to my Facebook newsfeed. "Do I dare?" asked my friend who forwarded the announcement to let it all hang out.

I didn't realize that in 2012 going bra-free required was such a big deal but maybe I underestimated the symbolism of the bra these days.

For the second year in a row,
a Facebook group has deemed July 9th a good time to "free your breasts." Launched by an anonymous internet user self-titled "Anastasia Doughnuts," the cause has women of all bra sizes a bit befuddled. Is it an homage to bra-burners of the '60s? A grassroots breast cancer awareness program?

"The thinking behind this event was to spread breast cancer awareness and make sure everyone involved enjoys themselves," Anastasia told Yahoo! Shine in an email.

But aside from a line at the bottom of the group's mission statement ("Breast Cancer is something you should take seriously and be checked for") there seem to be no other references, links Read More »from Today is National No Bra Day. But Why?

That's a direct quote from everyone who has ever given advice to a single person.

The technology of dating may have advanced in recent years, but the advice still sounds like tips gleaned from a Jennifer Lopez movie. Maybe it's the mixed messages or the complete homogenization of the soul mate tracking process but it's time dating advisers got some advice of their own. Like come up with some new advice that doesn't assume Richard Gere is just waiting for you to stop working so hard at your career so he can love you with the strong arms of a professional dancer.

    • Military Dad Helps Deliver Independence Day Baby Over Internet

Naval officer Ted Freese, with wife Lizzy, welcomes their new baby via Skype. (Kare11.com)Independence Day took on new meaning for a soldier stationed overseas Wednesday. Ted Freese got the chance to witness the birth of his son in a Minnesota hospital, despite being thousands of miles away.

The naval officer, currently based in the Middle East, coached wife Lizzy through labor with the help of a hospital Internet connection, a laptop, and a Skype account.

"From the time we found out, we were hoping it would be on the Fourth of July," the beaming dad told  Minnesota's KARE11 News. Despite his 15-hour shifts halfway around the globe, his commanding officer insisted he be by his wife's side, if only through the Internet.

"[He] made a phone call and said I wasn't allowed to come back into work until I had a little baby boy," says Ted, who won't be able to hold his son until he returns to the states in December.
