Make a flash-mob for Ellen and it won't go unnoticed. A group of dancers put on a surprise show outside of a JCPenney and leaked it online. So what's that got to do with the talk show host? Last month, after Degeneres became spokesperson for the retail giant, a small army of outspoken critics called for a boycott of the store simply because of the talk show host's sexual identity. Their hope was to ultimately get JCPenney to drop Ellen. But the big shiny Penney stood by Ellen. So did thousands of fans on Facebook. Eventually the homophobic fringe group backed off.
The whole thing was a triumphant collaboration of one star, one mega-corporation and a whole lot of online support. "My haters are my motivators," was Ellen's pitch perfect statement at the time. It was enough to make you want to dance.
And that's just what GROOV3, an community-oriented dance group, did at a California mall. The troupe invited all levels of dancers to celebrate the win and learn some moves just hours

Read More »from McDonald's New Happy Meal Ads: Healthy or Misleading? The new McDonald's Happy Meal commercial emphasizes apples, not toys. McDonald's is giving kids a new reason to buy their Happy Meals, and it doesn't involve toys. An ad campaign launching Friday hopes to teach kids to hit the Golden Arches because it's healthy.
Yes, those Golden Arches. The cartoon spot will follow a boy named Ferris who teaches his friend, an over-indulgent goat, to pick fruit and dairy over things like paper and baseballs. During a trip to McDonald's.
Not only are there no freebie action figures, there's not a single burger in the entire commercial. Could that be a first for McDonald's?
It's a stretch for a chain that relies on deep fryers and "pink slime" to carry out orders. But recent additions to the kids' menu -- from apple slices to low fat milk -- are changing the brand's image, or at least attempting to. Now that Happy Meals come with fewer fries and a choice of apple slices, the calorie count has dropped by 20 percent. But the bulk of the meal is still grease-laden.

Is a pregnant woman's body not safe for supermarkets? An Arizona grocery store is being accused of censoring an Elle magazine cover featuring a very pregnant Jessica Simpson in her birthday suit. Issues of the glossy are getting the Hustler Magazine treatment, placed behind a make-shift "shield" on the rack so only Simpson's face peaks out, according to Jezebel.

A reader to the site sent in the photo of the cardboard-covered issue in a Tucson Safeway. It's unclear whether a shop clerk or a patron provided the cover-up. Jezebel's Cassie Murdoch followed up with the store's manager who claimed not to be aware of the cardboard shield. But at least one person was offended by the image.
"True, her breasts are somewhat exposed, but it's not too different than what you could see on this year's Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition cover," writes Murdoch. "And what do you think the chances are that they covered that up?"

Last year, Jirka Väätäinen, a student at Arts University College at Bournemouth in the UK, decided to bring Disney's most famous heroines to life. The 22-year-old graphic design student combined photos of real women with Disney's classic cartoon renderings using Photoshop, and created digital paintings that brought everyone from Sleeping Beauty to Princess Jasmine to life. Shine featured his work and 14,000 Facebook likes later, Jirka's art was a viral sensation.
Now he's followed up his series with six more realistic princesses. What took him so long? "Each art piece does take hours, and I usually don't finish my pieces till days or weeks later," Jirka told Shine on Wednesday. Despite all the attention he's received (his work has been shared by over 100,000 on Tumblr) he hasn't turned his passion into a profit. "I'm not currently selling any of my Disney inspired art, since I am afraid that there might be a copyright issue with these being so heavily

To make the world's best pizza you'll need dough, mozzarella cheese and some top shelf tequila.
On Thursday, top pizza-makers from around the globe competed for the title of "World's Best Pizza" at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. At stake was $10,000 and the highest honor in the industry.

This year's big winner was anything but traditional. The "Tropical Pie" - a blend melted asiago and mozzarella cheese, topped with shrimps, thinly sliced and twisted limes, a fresh mango salsa, all resting on a rich pineapple cream sauce infused with Patron.
The recipe, devised by mad pizza scientist Andrew Scudera of Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza in Staten Island, was months in the making.
"I came up with idea to use tequila, but it was a collaboration," Andrew tells Shine. "Everyone here at the restaurant dived in and gave their input, helping to perfect the recipe by the time we brought it to the show."

THE FAKE DOUGHNUT: A BRIEF ESSAY BY A 12-YEAR-OLD
"You know what I think is weird? Fake donuts, A.K.A. plain ones. I mean, you just stroll into a Dunkin Donuts and you see all the different flavors and types, like Glazed, Strawberry, Boston Kreme, and Chocolate Frosted. And there, just sitting there among the wonderful flavors, acting like it belongs there, is Plain. Right there, laying on the pink and orange tissue paper, with the little shiny silver walls of the crate it's in surrounding it, just like all the real ones. But it's not! It's not one of them. It has no frosting, no sprinkles, no glaze, no cream, no fillings or toppings at all! It shouldn't even be called a doughnut! Or a pastry of any kind. It's just a BAGEL! A BAGEL!
