This morning I came across an interesting post on SheFinds, in which the author discussed a Hervé Léger swimsuit that A) costs over a thousand dollars, and B) isn't waterproof. My first thought? This is hilarious. My second? I bet I can easily find more fashion-y, expensive swimwear that isn't supposed to get wet. Turns out I was totally right.
On Net-A-Porter alone-where SheFinds found said bathing suit-I found a wide array of pricey, for-show-only beachwear. They carry crocheted suits from Missoni that range from $365 to $715, and the only Hervé option that's in stock costs a whopping $1050. All of these pieces include the following instructions in the notes: "To get the best from your beachwear we advise you do not wear it in water."
Out of curiousity, I checked out a few other luxury shopping sites to scope out some more Hervé styles and prices, and found this interesting tidbit-none of the other stores

Today is Chris Brown's big album release day, but no one seems to be interested in talking about that - thanks to his freakout backstage at Good Morning America this morning. I hate to break it to you Chris, but you did it to yourself. TMZ reports say that after his on-air interview, Chris really lost it in his dressing room, to the point where the hair and makeup people were forced to call security. That didn't do any good, because by the time they arrived, the damage had already been done. The dressing room was already destroyed - he even went so far as to smash a window. Then, in dramatic Brown fashion, he ripped off his shirt before exiting the GMA building. Clearly those court-ordered anger management classes did not do the trick.

Alexander McQueen's death. Kate Moss promoting anorexia. Britney Spears going bald. Ah, the controversy which media thrives on. Since fashion is never short on its shocking figures, it comes as no surprise that Brooklyn-based designer Christopher Lee Suave uses said subjects as centerpieces for his latest line of t-shirts. The indie designer caught the attention of NYC's cool-kid crowd after using variations of Anna Wintour mockery on his tees, and now tackles fashion iconography again in his Spring collection with flashes of Vogue, Tom Ford, and Andy Warhol featured on cotton shirts. Merciless and witty, big statements are made with his pop-art styled interpretations. Somehow, he manages to take celebrity mugshots, Jesus, and Courtney Love, and weaves them all together in some vulgar celebration of irony.

There's nothing so banal as talking about the weather, but for North Easterners who have suffered (I'm not being dramatic) through one of the worst winters in the books, Spring sun was a dream that seemed inevitable. Until, one remembers that March and April and sometimes May mean rain, and a lot of it. So, in other words, the weather is the topic du jour, and there's not much to be done about it.Get The Look: Everyday Looks For Spring

Dating Study Confirms Women Are Masochists

A University of Virginia study, recently published in the Journal of Psychological Science, confirms what most of us already know: when it comes to dating, women just love to torture themselves. Findings suggest that a woman is more attracted to a man when she is uncertain about how much he likes her, causing her to constantly think about him - to the point of obsession.
47 female undergraduates participated in the study, which used Facebook as a pretense. They were split into three groups and shown the profiles of four fictional men. One group was told that the men had viewed their profiles and liked these women the most. The second group were told that the men rated them as average and the last group didn't know about the level of the men's interest in them. And just like a masochist, the women who found the men most attractive were this last group - the ones who weren't sure whether those men were into themKatie Holmes On Her Line, Designing for Suri in 10 Years

I stopped by Barneys New York this morning where stylist Jeanne Yang, along with that tall, arrestingly pretty girl you may have heard of, Katie Holmes, were hosting a trunk show for their collaborative line, Holmes & Yang. Katie explained her side of the ethos, Suri included, behind launching the collection in Fall 2009, "We love fashion and spend a lot of time at vintage shops and costume houses looking over these old beautiful pieces and looking over the detail work and why they're so special. Jean has two twin daughters and I have a daughter... and we wanted to create something that maybe they'll wear in ten years."
Yang expands, taking an editor's approach in a simple, but sort of genius theory - if not slightly foreign in today's buy-every-trend-for-less fashion ecosystem, explaining "You spend so much money filling your entire closet and then at the end you only wear like ten things. Why not make your
