The 2012 resort shows are just wrapping up and there are several playful new accessory trends to explore. Designers experimented with everything from mixed materials to loads of snakeskin and awesome electric blue items. For me, it was all about transparency. Cutouts and sheer paneling on stilettos, plastic jewelry and see-through bags made for a clear choice!

The peek-a-boo trend evolved into many different forms in several designer collections. Marc Jacobs used lace and clear plastic for several of his shoes that gave off a very Cinderella vibe, while Alexander Wang chose to use mesh inserts to add some softness to his sleek and modern footwear. Cutouts in a multitude of colors were a style utilized by several designers, who experimented with different shapes to add interest to their bags and shoes.

For jewelry, clear resin made appearances in both Costume National's and Dior's collections as bangles for

It's a common belief that we're able to judge our attraction to someone within the first few minutes of an initial meeting. And while there are certain stereotypical characteristics that tend to lead to an immediate "hot or not" decision, research fromPsychology Today finds that physical attractiveness is actually a bit more complicated than that.

Researchers in the study looked at something called dynamic physical attractiveness, which says a person's personality, physical grace and body languageall have an affect on our perception of who is and who isn't attractive. Going in, they hypothesized that "people who spontaneously expressed positive emotions were more attractive to others," meaning that a person's emotional expressiveness and social skills are a major part of what makes someone hot.

Groups of college students were judged based on still photos of faces and bodies, while another group

    • Some of Your Favorite Things Can Lead to Depression

Why is it that with every new study that comes out, I have to learn about one more enjoyable thing that's actually bad for me? This time, things are looking pretty bleak, as the latest findings threaten to take away the three things in my life that bring me the most happiness: doughnuts, coffee and hot weather. And I know for a fact that I'm not alone in this. But according to some leading British experts on mood disorders, some of our favorite things could actually be causing depression.

      Hot Weather
Let's start with hot weather. Apparently there's such a thing as a summer form of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), where depression is triggered by too much sun. As someone who goes into hibernation mode all winter long, just waiting for June weather, I definitely know I'm not one of the tens of thousand who suffer from summer SAD.

      Lead researcher
Dr Lisa Page offered a number of explanations, the most interesting

Frieda and Nellie is just the kind of jewelry operation you would hope for when buying the whimsical, pretty, retro-meets-overnight-camp friendship bracelets that editors and the girls they influence have fallen hard for. I went to meet the designers, Sarah Reid and Stacy Herzog, at their East Village studio filled with natural light, trays of sourced vintage, sparkling finds, beads, colorful string, closures, fashion tomes, pink roses and two really cute dogs.

Stacy is the effusive, lit up counterpart to Sarah's more laidback temperament - they're best friends, they strike a balance. Stacy, who did time as Sarah's intern while still in school, shares an almost cinematic version of their first encounter, explaining, "We met on a hot summer Friday, she took me on an adventure - we got really lost in the subway even though Sarah was the New Yorker who had lived here and knew how to get around."

      Both girls have

If you prefer a wardrobe of neutrals or monochromatic black and were hoping that the crazy color schemes that dominated the Spring 2011 collections were a one-season thing, I hate to break it to you: rainbow hues aren't going anywhere fast. Vivid brights and jewel tones popped up on plenty of the Fall 2011 runways in the form of solid skirts, pants and dresses, but designers got a little cray cray with the color combos for Resort 2012 and went Roy G. Biv all over the collections. From Christopher Kane's prismatic gradient to Henry Holland's Mexican-inspired stripes, prepare to shock your closet with an explosion of rainbow colors this winter.

Want a friend on the inside? Add us on Facebook to always stay in touch.

Blue Valentine was, without a doubt, one of the most emotionally disturbing and best movies I've seen in a long time. And after re-watching it a second time the other day, I finally understand why it was so disturbing to so many people: it's real life.

We don't go to the movies to see a once happy couple fall out of love - we go to see Mila and Justin get it on and live happily ever after (Friends with Benefits, anyone?). That said, movies like Blue Valentine are jarring because the reality is that falling out of love is unfortunately a lot more common than the sought-after fairytale ending.

Not to get all depressing on you, but it's scary to think how easily a couple can go from loving to loathing each other. But I've always been a big proponent of the "prevention is key" philosophy. So here are five common reasons why you may have fallen out of love - And if you're still lucky enough to be with the one you

Want a friend on the inside? Add us on Facebook to always stay in touch.

A recent Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data sheds some new light on cohabiting couples. If you're college-educated, then there's some very good news for you. But on the other hand, there's very little economic benefit to those without college degrees who are shacking up. As it turns out, "median adjusted household incomes of college-educated couples were $106,400 for cohabitors, $101,160 for married couples and $90,067 for adults with no opposite-sex partners."

So here we have yet another case for not getting married. The arguments is this: "for less-educated couples, cohabiting is an arrangement that looks a lot like marriage and may well include kids." Pew researcher Richard Fry explains, "cohabitors without college degrees are more likely than those with degrees to live in a household with children, and those who do have significantly lower median household incomes than those who don't."

I hate traditional wedding shoes. Perfectly sartorially acceptable people tend to lose their minds where white, crystals and silk/satin are involved. When else would you wear pointy white shiny silk shoes? Never, that's when.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and say wedding shoes should be an investment. In case you disagree, there's one perfectly simple, lovely pair for under $100, and otherwise there's crystals and chiffon flowers and of course...something blue. All done impeccably pretty, by the way.
