Julie Rice and Elizabeth Cutler are the founders of SoulCycle, a high-end spinning studio with a cult following, including celebrities like Lady Gaga and Kelly Ripa. The indoor cycling experience includes a candlelit studio, upper-body and core movements, and tons of dance music (grooving and cheering is encouraged). The queens of spin launched their company in 2005 and have expanded across the nation from coast to coast with plans to open nine more studios next year. Besides envy-inducing gym bodies and a thriving business (you can buy said studio candles, which have been designed by the likes of Jonathan Adler, as well as other SoulCycle gear), these humble-as-pie ladies love nothing more than gabbing over their mutual obsession-frozen yogurt.

Keri BlairMAC Cosmetics Senior Makeup Artist Keri Blair grew up in a farm town in Maryland, but her unlikely punk-rocker aesthetic was influenced by British pop bands, Cyndi Lauper, and even candy. Because the idea of making a living as a makeup artist seemed remote ("Too enjoyable to feel like a bona fide career" she said), her initial foray into beauty was studying chemistry to create her own hair-dye colors. Blair began working in video, doing lighting and sound, before meeting a makeup artist who inspired her to forge a cosmetics career. ELLE.com caught up with Blair to discuss All Hallow's Eve beauty, including her best tips on how to create a bespoke gothic lipstick (and make it utterly portable), the best retro reds, and how to turn eye-shadow into a super-scary mask.
ELLE: What are some ways to create a mask using makeup?
Keri Blair: Eye-shadow, or any other powder product, can make a mask or block of color on the face. Map out the shape first with cream-color base or concealer,Read More »from Beauty Chat: MAC's Keri Blair on Achieving Flawless Halloween Makeup

Jason Ascher Oxblood shades raged all over the fall runways, and it's clear that it's the unofficial color of the season. The shade has been making a cameo in wardrobes via purses, shoes, and even coated jeans, but a little beauty infusion of the color complements the vampy effect. The conundrum: How to weave it into your look without resembling a Melrose Place extra. ELLE.com consulted Barneys New York's East-Coast Beauty Guru, Jason Ascher, on how to wear the deep hue on eyelids, lips, and tips. Ascher cut his beauty teeth training with Bobbi Brown and currently doles out unbiased product recommendations in color, skin care, and fragrance by appointment from a studio in The Foundation at the store's Madison Avenue location in NYC. Here's how to get autumn's of-the-moment beauty look.
ELLE: What are some modern methods for incorporating burgundy hues into makeup?
Jason Ascher: Burgundy tones can be built onto eyes using shadow shades that are more brown-based than red-based, which canRead More »from Beauty Chat: Jason Ascher on Incorporating Oxblood into Your Fall Beauty Look
