Willow Smith made a serious winter hair statement when she showed up to perform at the L.A. Tree Lighting Ceremony with twisted candy cane braids. While Willow can pull off pretty much any outrageous style, we were reminded of the haircare issues that come with crackling cold weather. Adir Abergel, a senior stylist at the Frédéric Fekkai Melrose Place Salon who has worked with celebrity clients Sienna Miller, Anne Hathaway, and Demi Moore, told Allure his best tips for keeping winter hair looking hot.

Smooth out. To keep hair from looking dry and dull, shampoo with a moisturizing formula twice a week and follow with a rich conditioner.
Get a lift. Prevent limp, stringy hair by applying conditioner only from the ears to the ends of your hair. Try using a dry spray shampoo (Abergel recommends Klorane), before going out: They soak up oil but don't sit on the hair like baby powder.
