After all, it happened to Reese Witherspoon (who won in 2005 and divorced Ryan Phillipe the following year), Halle Berry (won in 2001 and split from Eric Benet in 2003), Hilary Swank (won in 2004 and ended her marriage to Chad Lowe in 2005), and many others who'd walked away with a statue.
And recently researchers at the University of Toronto found that the curse is for real. They looked at all of the Best Actress winners from 1936 till now and found that they're 1.68 times more likely to divorce as actresses who were nominated, but didn't win.
