A few weeks back I came across this intriguing piece in the Daily Mail about a 6-year-old girl who was already worried about being fat. My initial instinct was to feel sorry for the little girl and her mother. Girls go through enough with body image as teenagers, but to be worried about this at 6? Why can't kids just be kids?

As I thought about the issue more, though, I realized the fine line we have to walk as parents when explaining to our children what's healthy. I firmly believe no child should be called fat, but on the same hand I think it's important to teach kids healthy eating and exercise habits and the adverse effects of being overweight. As much as it hurts me to know there are little girls out there already worried about being fat at 6-years-old, I also know children's eating habits are established when they're young. Classifying a child as fat so early in life is probably a bad idea, but teaching them

And besides, aren't babies known to poop, pee, and throw up on occasion...or more? Do I really want to stress about all those glorious bodily fluids soiling swanky sheets? Um, I don't think so! For that kind of money, I'd rather splurge on a designer crib and get some practical, affordable sheets with the money left over.

I know it's kind of a weird question, but I'm genuinely curious. Obviously, I do. That's my little girl and I above sharing a smooch during our recent trip to Florida.

I ask because apparently seeing parents kissing their children on the lips freaks some people out. I will admit, I was one of those people before I had a child. And then I experienced the overwhelming love of being a parent and suddenly all my qualms about mouth to mouth contact with a child dissipated.

My boyfriend, however, is one of those people who thinks it's totally weird for parents to kiss their children on the lips. His logic is that mouth kissing has romantic connotations and should be reserved for your significant other. There are so many other places to kiss your little one, why the lips?

Put me in a white tee, and I guarantee that I'll have some sort of stain on it before the end of the day. Put my daughter in a white tee and she'll get something on it in minutes. Dress us in head to toe white? Sure, we'd look fabulous, but that's asking for trouble!
