This weekend, I cheated on my beloved Maclaren. I really do love my Maclaren Techno XT, but that stroller is getting heavy. Well, the truth is my daughter is getting heavier and it's getting harder and harder for me to get her and that stroller up the stairs in our apartment building.

So I decided to explore my other options this weekend. I wanted a super-lightweight stroller, so before heading to the store I did my research and had my eyes set on the UPPAbaby G-Lite umbrella stroller. It's only 8.3 lbs, which seems like nothing compared to my current stroller.

The verdict? I love it. If I wasn't short on apartment space, I would have purchased that stroller right on the spot. It really is insanely lightweight, incredibly easy to push and it folds so easily. My one complaint is that the rain cover is sold separately, but it's only an extra $20. So as soon as I find something to do with my current Maclaren, there's no doubt in my mind I'm getting the G-Lite. Amazing!

I'll never forget being in a Gap store as a teenager and overhearing a woman scold her child for wanting a hoodie that said Gap on it. I thought to myself, "What's so bad about a Gap hoodie?" It wasn't until I was a little older and came across another woman who felt the same that I understood some people have a problem with brands basically giving themselves free promotion all over their children. Tons of brands do it--emblazon their logo or name across a hoodie or tee that really would be just the same without it.

Fundamentally, I could care less. The idea of free promotion doesn't really offend me that much. If I think a shirt or sweatshirt is cute, I'll buy it 90% of the time.
