When I was pregnant, I fantasized about being a stay at home mom. I dreamed about all the fun ways I would spend my days with my little girl and all the amazing things we'd do. Well, that didn't happen. In part because I needed to work for the money, but I also really missed working. After 3 months of maternity leave, it was hard for me to go back to work, but when I eventually got into the groove, I liked being a working mother.

Oddly, though, as my daughter

has gotten older--she's 2--it's been harder and harder for me to leave her every morning. Just as I'm leaving for work every day she says, "Where are you going?" I explain that I'm going to work and then the "Whys" begin. It eventually ends with her saying "No, stay home and play with me" and me promising to bring her a surprise after work just so I can get out of the door.

Which leads me to my question. I don't bring her a gift every single day, but I do typically bring some little trinket home for my daughter 3-4

Once upon a time, I was wild child. I got multiple tattoos and piercings within the span of a few years and yes, one of those was a belly button ring. In retrospect, it was a completely ridiculous way to spend my time and money, but I do remember having fun with my girlfriends at the time. The point is, when I found out I was pregnant I quickly got rid of that navel ring. "You can't wear a belly button ring with a huge baby bump," I thought.

Last night I was at an event for work and as with most events here in N.Y.C., there was alcohol. I will say this upfront, I'm not a drinker. I've never been a drinker. I can probably count the number of times I've ever had a sip of alcohol. That being said, I have no problem with people drinking around me--in moderation, of course.

Back to last night. One of the other guests was pregnant--not showing, but she still put it out there that she was expecting--and she openly threw back about 1/4 glass of champagne.
