    • Resolved to Save More Money in 2011? Me Too! Here's How

I always make New Year's resolutions, but they're not always serious. Okay, and the truth is, I'm not always that serious about keeping them either. But this year is different. When the clock struck midnight on 1/1/11 I said I would save more money in 2011 and I'm determined to stick to it.

As you can imagine, shopping the Web all day presents an awful lot of temptation to spend. From sample sales and group coupons to 70% off sales and deals, I can only restrain myself so much. So to help keep my spending in check and achieve my savings goal, I've decided not to pay full price this year--for anything.

Over the holidays, I was out with my dad and I commented on how amazing some of the deals were. He insightfully pointed out, "if stores can afford to mark this stuff down 75%, then how much was it marked up to begin with?" Good point, right? Every time I feel the impulse to buy something that's not on sale, I'll remember this.

I've also got some tools to help me save.

    • 2010 in Review: The Top 5 Toys of the Year

You can't have a year in review without a list of the best toys of 2010. It wasn't easy, but here are the top five toys of the year for infants all the way up to big kids.

Disagree or have another toy you want to add to the list? Share in the comments below!

For Infants: Skip Hop Hug & Hide Owl

In an electronic age when flashing lights and catchy tunes reign supreme, it's nice to find a baby toy that goes back to basics, like the Hug & Hide Owl. Brightly colored and chock-full of baby-powered activities to engage and entertain, it's no wonder stores can't keep it in stock.

For Toddlers: Jojo Bump Bump Remote Control Car

No more waiting to play with the big kid RC car. Jojo Bump Bump is made just for toddlers, with just two buttons to make the cartoon-like car drive forward or spin around. Baby not such a great driver? No worries. Baby will get a laugh watching Jojo the bunny bounce out of the car.

      For Preschoolers: Fisher Price iXL

    • 2010 in Review: The 5 Best New Baby Products Of The Year

It's not every year that the Baby Bjorn or the Boppy are invented, but this year we did see our fair share of useful, inventive baby products. Here are five that have made our lives easier and more enjoyable as moms with little ones.

Mamaroo Infant Seat ($165): It's a bouncy seat, a swing, and a sleeper all in one. Really! The Mamaroo infant seat lets you choose from five different settings (from Ocean Wave to Car Ride) to soothe your little one to sleep or to keep her entertained for long periods of time. The space-age design and bold color choices are modern and fun, and the different vibrations and motions suit individual baby moods and needs.

Indestructibles ($5 each): The year board books were introduced was surely a banner year for new baby products, but it's been awhile since anything has come close to the convenience, the durability, and the appeal. But 2010 brought us Indestructibles, which are not just sturdy, but waterproof, tear-proof, teething-proof, and safe.

    • 2010 in Review: Top 5 Kids’ Movies of the Year

2010 was a great year for movies, especially if you were a kid. There were kid-friendly flicks about diaries, dragons, and despicable villains, and let's not forget about the movie that blew the summer competition away: Toy Story 3. You didn't need to be a kid to fall in love with Woody and the rest of the gang all over again.

That being said, here are the Top 5 Best Kids Movies of the Year. Disagree or have another movie you want to add to the list? Share in the comments below.

Toy Story 3: Buzz, Woody and the rest of the crew are back for the third installment of the Disney/Pixar classic, and this time, their owner, Andy, is headed off to college. A misunderstanding leads the toys to daycare, where a whole new adventure begins, complete with a new 'bad guy' (who knew teddy bears could be so evil?). Expect laughs along the way, but don't be surprised if Mommy or Daddy sheds a tear at the end.

    • 2010 In Review: Top 5 Most Annoying Celebrity Moms of the Year

I know I'm going to get some heat for this post, so first let me say that I'm sure these celebrity moms are all good moms, great even. But let's face it: they've been all over the media this year and one can't help but be annoyed…even just a little bit.

So, that being said, here are the top 5 most annoying celebrity moms of 2010. Disagree or have other annoying celebrity moms to add to the list? Sound off in the comments section below.

      Sarah Palin:
She can't finish up her term as Alaskan Governor, but she can write a best-selling book and star on a reality TV show? Hmm... That being said, I'd rather have her as author and TV star than 2012 Presidential candidate.

dina lohanDina Lohan: Somewhere behind the eyeliner and the tan, we're sure Dina Lohan has the best intentions as Lindsay's mom. But someone really needs to get this woman a clue. Her daughter needs help and her going on The Today Show is not it.
Kate Gosselin: You have to admit that the mother of eight looks

    • Holiday Travel Tip: Invest in Reusable Shopping Totes to Protect Your Bags

I was flipping through my InStyle Magazine and found a great holiday travel tip. You know those lightweight reusable totes you always keep in your bag? Well, here's another nifty use for them: if you're flying anywhere for the holidays, use them to protect your handbag, diaper bag, kiddo's bag, you name it when you're stowing them under the seat. That way, you'll keep away all the nasties the flight crew didn't clean up from the previous flight.

This set of five from Envirosax is just $38 and holds an impressive 44 pounds each.

    • What's Your Christmas Tradition?

Are you ready for it to be Christmas already? I am. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Scrooge, but I am just about gifted-out.

I must admit, though, I am excited to see my daughter open Christmas gifts for the first time--yes, all three of them. But I was thinking last night, is this the time to institute a family Christmas tradition? Last year, she was too young (and sick, as luck would have it) to care one way or the other, but this year she understands there are gifts for her.

Problem is, she'll have no idea Saturday is the day she gets to open them. So it's up to her dad and I to somehow mark this special day, right? Do we wake her up early, play Christmas carols and open gifts together? Do we make a big breakfast, then announce it's time to open the gifts? I'm kind of stumped.

When I was a kid, my brother and I would wake up at the crack of dawn, open our gifts, then go back to sleep. My parents would wake us up for breakfast at around 11 and then we'd enjoy all our
